Nu-Metal arrived with ferocious anger back in the 90's or something, crappy bands such as Slipknot, Mushroomhead, Limp Biskit , and a long etc. drowned the metal scene with their idiotic songwriting, their dull execution and with the worst image a metal band can have (f.e. stupid dinosaur masks, ridiculous body paint, etc.) that's more o less why metal-heads fucking hate this genre. Well I said all this for one reason, I want to say that I don't fucking hate Nu-Metal because I've found a couple of bands with decent music, and right now I'll talk about one of them.

Mudvayne is my favorite nu-metal band, way better than Slipknot, Mushroomhead, etc..

Oh no! Another nu-metal band! Great, moving on... But wait, if you actually listen to this album you will be surprised the amount of progressive elements and the incredible ambient the bass gives to the songs. I really recomend for those we really think nu-metal didn't bring anything "new" to metal. If you're really into progressive/ math/ exprimental stuff, this will be a great adiction to your library. To bad the band didn't think the same after this...

I love the bassist

I think at one point that was the heaviest song I'd ever heard.

Some of these rhythmic creations are incredibly sick. Unfortunately, the "hardcore" (nu-metal?) elements are quite off-putting at times and detract from the dopeness.

Easily the greatest nu metal album of all-time, and the album that got me over my hatred of the subgenre. I typically don't like nu metal discourse on the internet because people take an "all-or-nothing" approach, where half will nostalgically praise the subgenre incessantly while the other half blindly bashes it. It seems very few are able to take a nuanced approach to the style by acknowledging both the good and the bad that came with it.

Whether you love or hate nu metal, I think most should be able to hear that the level of musicianship (especially from the bassist) and unpredictable song structures are miles ahead of slop like Crazy Town.

Easily the greatest nu metal album of all-time

I don't know if I may say or it needs to wrestle with other fantastic nu-metal releases in the same era to be greatest nu-metal release of all time, but what I can conveniently say it was considered to be the heaviest nu-metal album of all time.

It depends on what you'd classify as nu metal. Many classify Deftones and System of a Down as nu metal, but I don't, so hence why L.D. 50 is my favorite. If you do consider Deftones and System nu metal, then there's more of a debate between White Pony vs. Toxicity vs. L.D. 50
