I would say that this is disappointing but after the quality of the last album i wasn't expecting much

I like the tracks but I don't think you can treat it as anything more than a throwaway bit of fun. I'm sure these won't be an indication of what the next album sounds like.

Prequelle was a bit of a letdown for me but both songs on this are catchy af. Love it.

I hated it with my first listen, but twenty plus spins in and I love it.

These tracks are great. Not being metal doesn't automatically make music "throw away" or somehow less serious, lol. God this site can be cringe at times.

It's interesting you think these tracks should be taken seriously but because some of us don't, it makes you cringe.

I still see this little release as a stop gap. Tuneful pop-rock and like I said before, a throwaway bit of fun. It doesn't have the same depth of musical creativity as most of their previous stuff but it's still enjoyable for what it is and probably an improvement on some of the tracks from the latter half of Prequelle.

You're certainly entitled to that opinion. But musically, these tracks are not that far off complexity wise from most of Ghost's catalog. You may not be consciously trying to be an elitist here, but the idea that music that isn't heavy and/or is melodic is somehow less serious or sophisticated is an elitist attitude that makes the metal community look ridiculous.

I can't quite understand why these tracks were left off a full length album, they kinda seem wasted on an EP imo because for me they are up there with some of Ghost's finest work.

Some of Ghost's best tracks exist on EPs and as bonus tracks (see Popestar and "Zenith"). Another reason why I love 'em so much. This little single in particular is a nod to the 60's when bands like The Beatles and Stones released 7" smashes willy nilly.

And believe it or not, the LP format doesn't mean a lot to most people these days, who generally enjoy their music from Spotify playlists.

I'm really getting into that psychedelia vibe of theirs, in a way I get some early Greatful Dead vibes from it.
