Nexion There is nothing anyone can do....lets....as community, try and support one another. We will be at Ascension next year and we will have beautiful merch for you. Now be safe and built your home music libraries, read some books, and try not to spread this fucking foul shit Ascension Festival Iceland It is with the deepest regret that we must announce Ascension MMXX will not take place as scheduled. As the situation with the Covid-19 virus continues to escalate rapidly, it has reached the point in which we cannot in good conscience proceed as planned. Cases of infection in Iceland have doubled in the last 3 days alone, having jumped from 200 cases to 400 cases. We are faced with the very real issue of a government shutdown, on top of the fact that we are already losing our line-up and attendees due to travel restrictions. Most importantly, it becomes more and more apparent on a daily basis that this is now a serious public health issue. Our event is host to over 500 guests from over 30 countries (many of which are still only in early stages of the pandemic). In other words, our decision is not just practical, but wholly necessary - it is our responsibility concerning public safety. We understand that this will be of great disappointment to many, but believe us when we say there is no one more disappointed than us. We've poured our heart and soul into this event and the prospect of a cancellation has been weighing heavily on us for some time now. Even if this were not a public health issue, all possible scenarios now lead to this conclusion. The only vaguely possible scenario at this point is that we could host, but with only a fraction of our original line-up and with most of our predominantly foreign attendees unable to attend. And this to us is just not an option - it would compromise the quality of our festival far beyond the point of something we could live with and would not be the Ascension our attendees or artists signed up for. We did not invest enormous amounts of our time, energy and finances just to host a heavily compromised festival. But not all is lost and we believe in finding a silver lining in even the darkest of times. Ascension MMXX will not take place, but Ascension MMXXI will - and with the entire 2020 line-up up bar few exceptions. Here is the best part - Ascension MMXXI will take place May 12th - 15th, so yes, next year will greatly expand on this years line-up to become a four-day festival from here on out. All current tickets are valid for next year, but those who are unable to attend are free to claim a refund. The phoenix will arise stronger than ever in MMXXI! Expect an official announcement in the coming days. For now, stay safe, stay sensible and look after each other - this is far from over! Steve and Edda, sole organisers of Ascension.
