Enjoying it so far. Halfway through my third spin now. Nothing revolutionary, just solid melancholy blues rock.

Another strong release, happy that after such a low point like "Born Villain" was and people announcing his funeral, he managed to find the right partners --- first Tyler Bates and now Shooter Jennings --- to be relevant again. This "We Are Chaos" gets better at each listen, first 4 songs I really enjoy, somewhere in the middle it looses my attention a bit but the last 2, 3 songs make for a strong ending. As long as one doesn't expect him to make something like the Triptych ever again, can truly enjoy the music he's offering at this stage of his career.

just solid melancholy blues rock.

That's what I got from The Pale Emperor. If it's in that vein as well that I will find it enjoyable for sure.

I'd say it's in that vein. Not as memorable for me so far. Pale Emperor towers over MM's more recent work for me. But there's a lot more here for me than in Heaven Upside Down.

Yet another incredible album by MM! As a lifelong fan, I absolutely love his progression and evolution of sound and whilst I think Born Villain was a decent album, the real winning streak started with The Pale Emperor and We Are Chaos scores a hat-trick! Very strong performance and I really hope he continues his collaboration with Shooter because it works absolutely amazing.

P.s. if you're still hung up on Antichrist - Holy Wood era (which is also my personal favourite, hands down) and could never get over the fact that an artist doesn't want to repeat himself and wants to change, evolve and experiment, then this album is likely to disappoint you.
