I thought this was a roller coaster of an album. The first two tracks didn't quite do it enough for me. At first, I thought the bass was too independent from the rest of the music. But when track #3, "Beat The Clock" hit it really set-up the rest of the album nicely. The drummer they have debuted here did a fantastic job. Probably a little better than George Kollias at this style of music. Now when track #7 hit the album went downhill a little for me. I found the last track quite underwhelming compared to tracks #3-#6.

Each time I come back to Contrarian, I like them a bit more, and this album in particular. Bryce's drumming is so damn juicy on that album. It's all over the place, but in a good way, it never feels like too much because his chops are so elegant and tight.

Contrarian is a chronically underappreciated band. This is a fact. Huge amount of talent can be found among its ranks, years if not decades of practice were needed to sharpen aforementioned talent. "Only Time Will Tell" is a testament to this individual/collective effort & passion! It is a fun & engaging listen, not overly mechanical, generic or emotionless like some tech death bands tend to sound. If you enjoy the likes of Obscura, Beyond Creation and such this is a must listen. Contrarian can compete with heavyweights of tech prog extreme music any day. A true hidden gem of 2020. Do yourself a favor and give it a chance. 9/10
