This debut album by Autonoesis from Canada is a stellar blend of technical thrash metal with progressive and melodic death/black metal, and it is one of these rare cases that the record gets better and better with every listen. Imagine Voivod, Coroner, Death and Dissection jamming together and churning out invigorating and acrobatic riffs, as well as eclectic and emotional melodies, with a strong progressive undertow. This is an independent release so the sound could be improved and the complex character and songwriting calls for a real drummer rather than a drum machine but, frankly, this is a damn great album, especially considering that it came from out of nowhere.

Name your price and get it on Bandcamp right now.

Cheers to Nik for bringing this album to my attention again by staff picking it!

On my first listen, the few song snippets I heard couldn't really convince me but it was interesting enough to arouse my curiosity and to reserve it for a later and full listen.
But as it goes, I eventually closed the tab by accident and then completely forgot about it.
Shame on me.

However, this definitely demands a couple of attentive spins to fully grasp the multilayered beauty hiding below its rough surface. Is it just me and my acute otitis media or does the vocalist sound like Phlebotomized's Ben de Graaff?

It was actually musclassia's find and he should get the credit for it.

It definitely needs more than one listen to appreciate but for me it was an instant buy to be honest. I hear Ben De Graaff too but I doubt it's him, unless he's moved country to become Troy's flatmate

I will neither confirm nor deny this.

In today's world, it is hard to find an album which gets better at every listening. This is one of them.
