Oh fuck yes, been wanting to see where they go after Not For Music for a while now. I'm hoping for more of that post punk / coldwave atmosphere but a bit heavier and sort of infused into or sprinkled with some of their black/death personality. But I'm game for just about anything.

There's an animosity (anxious-avoidant type) within the vocalist's delivery as if it could kill with a simple stare. Music is equally as dark but the post-metal is as beautiful as seeing a cavern entirely made of crystal even if there's an underlining whirlpool of darkness within it too.
This is in no way blackened death btw. Darkwave/Post-Metal is the best tag. I'm also glad to see a better response for this album here (so far, at least). It's being torn apart at RYM. I wonder how Metal Archives will react to it?

Yeah this is a general Problem with bands on MS, when they change styles the album genre is usually wrong. I would assume MA will despise it, but I honestly have no idea since I'm not active there at all.

I love this description and I find it very accurate too (except the "post-metal" reference since I don't hear any metal myself).

I'm not too active there either. Only during the end of the year. I think it will be more mixed opinion there.

The album rules.
Yeah, it does. I guess you can substitute post-rock with my mention of post-metal there.
I think I like this better than their last one, but I need to give it more time. I love the overall ambience and the production is amazing. I'll be listening to this quite a lot in the near future.
They lost me on this. I can't even make it through one time. This is the biggest disappointment in a long time for me- Nothing good to say about this shit!
It was to be expected that they'd move further in this direction but they lost me with this one. Some good moments and interesting sound exploration, but overall quite boring and the strained whispered vocals grow tired after a while.
I really love this record, I think Emptiness might be one of my favourite bands rn, the last 3 releases have all been super unique and pretty spectacular in the right mood.

Fuck it. I'm giving this a ten. It's just insane how this album completely hijacked all the nights I go out to drink and head back home with my mind going in circles since it was released. It has become the go-to soundtrack for these nights. Dark, sexy, melancholic, cathartic and so much more.

So I came back to this and I must say that musically I really love it. However, I can't look past the fact that I do not understand anything they say. This is not an issue for the more extreme variations of metal, but the clean and calm atmosphere here heavily relies on vocals.
I enjoyed Not For Music more. This is OK, and I definitely respect them for trying to go more in that direction but it was a little much here I think
