It's a complete delight when a band's off-kilter take on a common blend of styles opens your mind just that fraction more to embrace new sounds and old sounds previously rejected. Grimy mid-paced black metal dominates the album, spiced with a balance between moments of frenetic bombardment and oppressive, atmospheric instrumentation. While that sounds relatively sullen, Haapoja somehow incorporate nuances in their playing which make this an absolute blast to listen to.
