Really not sure what to think of this. It's like reverse symphonic black metal, where instead of black metal with an orchestra, it's black metal with an opera singer. It doesn't work that well, but kudos to it being one of the most challenging records of the year.

I think it's an interesting idea and in that it COULD work well. I see no problem with the operatic vocals accompanied by the shrieks. What I did see as a potential issue were the riffs. Not particularly because they were black metal, per se, but more because of the riffs that were written for the record. They were enjoyable, decent at best, but nothing to write home about. Whereas, the vocal work was very impressive in my eyes. So when you combine something spectacular with something lukewarm you have this dichotomy. Regardless of that, I personally loved it but it could have been better.

Not easy to listen at first, but on each listen you discover an excellent and interesting project
