So... Much... passion in what Alexander von Meilenwald does. My brain feeling like it's receiving a massage as I roll my eyes to the back of my head. Imagination taking me to a cold landscape subdued by ambience and psychedelia. If you enjoyed Drown's Subaqueous and don't mind Type O Negative then be prepared for a lush environment.

Mmmmmmmmmm Type O Negative you say? Fresh meat. Started listening now. It's fascinating how a substantial amount of outlets like Pallbearer and Woods Of Ypres have taken homage since Peter's death now finally a seriously inclined artist can rightfully compare to the innovative importance of them..
From all of the aesthetics indicated with the color green used at a glance (shows, art, merch, symbolism) seen in metal I believe it's all existent crucially because of Type O Negative's genius.

Gladiatorial soundscapes. Drenched in vines of doom psychedelia.
At least what first impression did to me.

The Foulest Semen 2: Thulean Boogaloo. Just listened to the stream on YouTube. I was hopeful after the first track that this might be something that would intrigue me and break out of the rut of his last 3 albums. But no. Much like those other albums, this is close enough to being good that it just pisses me off that it feels mailed in and monotonous by the end. The guitar tone and effects bore the shit out of me. He relies on the same vocal gimmicks which are eyerollingly lame. Officially giving up my TRoB fan card I've been clinging to since Rain Upon The Impure.

Good inspiration and mixture between 2 genres and those genres subgenres. I like this, its like latest Satyricon in song writing (black metal) meats some doom as Tristitia and mix together, creates good sound.

Anchoress In Furs is a cracking track; I don't love all of it but there's enough range that the bits I'm less keen on are outweighed by the great stuff

This album doesn't just throw around the word 'atmospheric'. I felt like I was in a different planet altogether while I listened to this.
The guitar solos, few and used sparsely, goes really well with the songs. So do the chants. I have almost 6, 10/10 songs from this album. AOTY material for sure.

The intro riff effects are bad ass. Much like Neachy said, it has a lot of great moments but it also has a lot of empty-do-nothing moments that bring it down. I don't usually have to listen to albums multiple times to set a vote, but I think this one requires it. Homie definitely binged ToN while writing this.

Why wouldn't you binge on Type O Negative?
Deserts To Bind And Defeat is a mental opening blast. If anyone knows the "I want you to know, this is a dream" quote originates from please do share.
