I spent a lot of time pondering the intricacies of post-black metal in my review of Kevel's Mutatis Mutandis last year. Of the three possible definitions I put forward then, Decline Of The I's Johannes falls squarely into the third category, and what a great and unique fusion of post-metal and black metal it is. This is a really great post-black album, not quite at the level of Panzerfaust or Kevel's 2020 albums perhaps (although the last song is pretty epic), but does a great job of mixing black metal instrumentation with post-metal inclinations Edit: It's different to Panzerfaust and Kevel, but it's just as good in its own way - what a record

The three vocalists are this album's great asset, I think. Standout tracks: "The Veil Of Splendid Lives" and "Dieu Vide".
