Portal have surely carved a name for themselves with their impenetrable sound, intriguing themes of cosmic horror, and an inhuman intensity. With over two decades up their sleeve and plenty of bands drawing inspiration from their murky, cavernous sound, it is still gratifying to know that Portal keeps its own identity intact.

Right off the bat I feel like the production is in a sweet spot of being fucked but not muddy. I'd personally aim for a beefier low end (especially the kicks), just a touch, also a bit more low mid to mid crunch one of the guitars perhaps in some passages. But most of the time I'd leave everything as is. Also, quite surprised how clear, forward placed and not-so-smeared-in-space are some of the vocals, at least relative to what I remember form previous records (memory not so fresh tho). Although I'm still in the process of listening I can already hear some menacing and ominous passages and I think I'll quite like it overall. Lots of swirling and breathing in terms of pitch and timbre, even tempo a bit unless my ears tricked me. The sensation of the songs seemingly slowly "pulsing" or drifting is what I quite appreciate about their style, and it's definitely present in this record.

Ah so the first problem I have with the record, a lot of the passages feel quite similar (the almost droning bits between the more interesting stuff). I suppose it's intentional but it does get a bit boring at times.

Edit: Changed from 8 to 7 after letting it sit with me for a few days.

I like this one better than their previous. It has more discernable rhythm to it, which for people like myself who don't enjoy the Noise Metal sound as much, makes it more accessible while still being extreme.

No, I've never gotten into Portal either, but admittedly I'm generally not that interested in dissonant death (although last year's Ulcerate album was a big exception)

I prefer this to their previous one, but it's still not something I want to revisit

yeah , the difference is that I didn't like that Ulcerate album that much
there were some really good moments , the opener was really good too but overall , not that memorable
it's still way better than this one though
this has little to zero replayability and it's boring IMO
