"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" exists in two version, one for Australia featuring "R.I.P" and "Jailbreak," and another for the Europe, minus those two tracks but with "Rocker" from the album "T.N.T" and an exclusive track "Love At First Feel." The fact is, at the beginning, AC/DC had to wait for an international distribution. The result is a pretty difference between the 3 first Australian albums (High Voltage, TNT and DDDDC) and what we got in Europe (High Voltage and DDDDC, European High Voltage is a compilation of the Australian HV and T.N.T). We will discuss about the International version of DDDDC. Noted that this version was not released in the U.S. at that time. It will be only in 1981, after the success of "Highway to Hell" and will enter directly into 3rd place in the Billboard.

There is a lot on this album to be admired, yet it is not quite as musically good as 'Highway to hell' or indeed exciting as 'Back in Black'. It sounds very much like British Rock, in the sense that there is a great deal of humour involved-'Big Balls' and 'Dirty Deeds done dirt Cheap' being the most obvious examples. The album is closed interestingly with a very pop-influenced 'Squealer', yet still manages to deliver the goods. This album is a good successor to 'High Voltage', even if some songs can get boring at times.

Must be my most listened album in the early years. And I always thought pretty highly of this album, though maybe not quite as highly as Highway to Hell, pun not intended. While HtH has more of those hard rocking hit type songs, DDDDC sounds to me more focused in the slow bluesy songs and they're definitely strong tracks; "Ride On" is still my favourite AC/DC song and "Ain't No Fun" while not as good a song, it has great chorus. The more hard rock oriented songs are good here too, the only songs I really don't enjoy are "Problem Child" (has a good riff though) and "Squealer" (never liked this one). Not their best album IMO but it's classic AC/DC and with Bon Scott it automaticly sounds very genuine and honest music by true rockers.

true rockers? if true rockers exist, does it mean there are fake rockers or false rockers? What's the purpose of fake rocking? All my lame jokes aside, I just wish people would just stop using the "true" term.

I agree with the rest that you say here. Ride On is one of my favorite songs as well. I don't mind Problem Child, it's a fine song, but Squealer is the weakest song here indeed, although still listenable.

I mean people who live that lifestyle sex, drugs and rock n roll and basically write songs about their life and experiences. You can see Bon was totally that kind of a person. I think a lot of these "rock is dead" comments that have been surfacing for decades already are referring to this phenomenon where new rock is made but it doesn't quite cut it, it seems missing some genuinity, it has some fakeness to it. Obviously there are some rock artists and bands that make the music pretty much just for money and fame and work with producers to get famous, it's easy to see that something is off about these "rockers". To me things just seem to have changed drastically -- and for worse -- since 60s and 70s when rock was flourishing, everything was then more authentic, less money involved -- money, which nowadays can attract poseurs to cash in.

But anyway, I don't wanna bash anybody for anything, we need fake to know what is true so I am grateful that we have both, and due to that comparison I can appreciate what's true more.

You make a lot of sense.
It was still in the 70s that music labels realised they could make a lot of money, that's why a gifted guitarist like Peter Frampton (for example) was turned into a teen idol, or Rolling Stones created disco-funk songs in the late 70s, even a legend like Roy Orbison was convinced to play disco in the late 70s. That's how bad it was. No surprise things will go so bad in the 80s with MTV rockstars.

Well, IMO 90% of rock, even many of the great bands of 70s went crap in the 80s, with only rare few exceptions. I have checked the albums from this era and came to the conclusion that I better have go to the past decades OR sometimes go with new stuff as it looks like bandcamp and the other platforms are bringing some new blood, resurgence to rock to restore the long-lost greatness of the genre.

Joke songs can still be good but "Big Balls" isn't one of them.

A good album but it's probably my least listened to of the Bon albums. Odd as it was actually the first I bought and only one I own on vinyl.
