How do you follow up one of the best-selling albums in the history of music? A question that plagues only but a few bands across the breadth of music as a whole, let alone the rock genre. AC/DC also faced a second problem that even fewer bands face; how do you follow up the album that carried the momentum of Highway To Hell and take it even higher? Big shoes to fill for sure. The band decided to answer that question with For Those About To Rock (We Salute You). A strong album that shines bright even with the large looming shadows the prior two albums cast.

It looks from this album on the band got into the habit of writing one good song and releasing albums with the excuse that that's enough. It may be enough for blind fans who praise anything with the band's name sticked to it -- it is not enough for Jope of Steele though, who is here to call out albums exactly like this. Songwriting, like on Flick on the Switch, is rather a big failure, and a huge credit for that goes to Brian or whoever wrote these lyrics; they don't fit the songs very well, the repetitive vocal lines expose the poorness in the songwriting. Maybe not on Back In Black, surely on FTATR it can be heard how the cooperation of the instruments and the vocals deteriorated; I'm guessing Bon must had had some input in the songwriting, which made the earlier album's songs more coherent. On a positive note: The title track is really good.

One of the weakest records of the band, slower and a bit boring, just one song For Those About to Rock, the other songs are really mediocre. the success of this record explain with the huge success of Back in Black, and the unsuccessful Flick of the Switch means with the mediocrity of FTATR

I disagree here, this album was a disappointment because it came after the insanely good Back in Black album.
I listeend to this album quite a bit because of a friend that loved it. So when we hanged out, we would play the album eventually. Good times!

Also I enjoy Flick of the Switch more than FTATR.
