Lifelover are back with a new album, their third release "Konkurs" ("Bankruptcy"). After the shift in mood from sardonically happy on "Pulver" to urban sickness on "Erotik", it would not have been a surprise if they would have changed again, but not this time. "Konkurs" largely follows the path laid out on "Erotik". Once again Lifelover delivers an album that will divide the Black metal crowd into those that love it and see a certain depravity in the music, and those who hate it and think that Lifelover are nothing but a bunch of overrated necro Coldplay/Joy Division wannabees.

This could have been a small classic in swedish but I feel that the lyrics isnt up to standards here. Love the music and the atmosphere though.

I´d say both. To me it seems that the post-punk often goes over in post-rock. Not really sure of the tags though
Track 6 is post-rock and it seems like Ghost Bath found some inspiration in that song.

Post-rock? Way too little if at all. Clearly post-pnuk influences all over the place in Lifelover's discography.

There's a buttload of stuff like The Cure and similars in this album and the rest of their discography. Everyone who is familiar with popular swedish music knows the true influence though:
Lifelover is basically Kent playing black metal. Kent being the biggest pop, rock, post-punk (in the beginning) and electronica. Yeah, they have covered all that since the 90s and have more than 10 albums. They have the dark and bittersweet sound that Lifelover worhips them for.

I can almost feel Marcel coming and posting so I'm gonna say it now: No, Kent is NOT like Coldplay. Coldplay lacks the bleakness and urban despair. Sure it's still pop/rock at its core and it has loads of melody but it's only used to cover the bitterness like a blanket. Niklas Kvarforth is actually a HUGE fan of Kent. I always laugh when I hear or read him saying stuff like "We don't play black metal... You know who do? Kent." Lucas knows this too.

Post-punk. Don't think of post-punk the same way you'd think of punk. Most goth rock of that kind has many ties with the post-punk scene.
