My fav from that band and it means to metal a lot , its like a day when you lose your virginity, we all remember it , it means a lot, its same whit this album, metal lost its virginity

Kind of good debut for such an early metal album. I've given the album a few extra shots to turn out as better than how I'm see it right now, and as a conclusion it hasn't improved. Some of the songs are rather good: the S/T song, "Behind The Wall Of Sleep" and "N.I.B.", but I cannot see The Wizard, Evil Woman, Sleeping Village and Warning as very good songs at all. IN overall the album's songs aren't that amazing; they're not quite BS classics in quality, but still there is something enjoyable to listen every now and then. So I don't think it's superb album, and the band's following releases make this album look clearly weaker. Similar case is with earliest Manilla Road which isn't very far from early BS musically.

Feels embarrassing to admit, but I have never enjoyed this album beyond the title track. Yes, it's raw and intense and all kinds of stuff and even has some historical value, but I just don't like it, too much blues for my taste. When I was a teenager and didn't have access to internet, I even thought that Paranoid was their debut. I guess I wasn't alone, since nobody I knew really enjoyed or talked about this either.

Obviously a classic, but the first half is far stronger than the second.

The obvious masterpiece-songs here are the title track and NIB.
The rest of the songs are pretty average, but not bad!! Behind the Wall of Sleep and Evil Woman are fun and catchy. The Wizard is cool, even though the harmonicas can be a bit annoying. The Sleeping Village and Warning have nice instrumental sections that remind me of Pink Floyd, but they can get too long and boring if one is not in the mood.
I'm glad that Sabbath improved a lot after this release!

A debut with a legendary status, that sounded well ahead of it's time during it's release, it was completely unique, and different to anything ever done before. Although it may not of been perfect, it had some outstanding, memorable moments, the title track being the most memorable. It's hard to think such a song was released in 1970, with it's haunting, and doomy atmosphere that buids up, and those sinister lyrics, that were made by the eerie vocals of Ozzy, and then finished by that amazing Iommi guitar solo.

"Evil Woman", "NIB" and "The Wizard" were also great songs too, which used so many influences, from jazz, and blues, to hard rock, with lots of groovy jamming. "Behind The Wall Of Sleep", "Sleeping Village" and "Warning" were also very good songs too, although not as great as the other three I mentioned.
