Not the best of black sabbath

I disagree, this album is one of Black Sabbath's best works; the only weak song is Changes.

I think it is the less perfect album Of Sabbath but yet a great one.

nothing and nobody is perfect; "perfect" is not a word I would use to describe music or whatever.

Rating: 8 It's not exactly as striking as their three previous albums, but it certainly still has the relevant themes that haunted the band's earlier records, and also the ones that usually co-operate with traditional doom metal. However, i love how different the band sound compared to earlier releases, as 'Wheels of confusion...' and 'Under the Sun...' work brilliantly in my opinion. One for those who prefer Black Sabbath's more laidback moments...

Its as brilliant as the others really. I dont understand why its so underrated. Changes is one of the best ballads ever written and Songs like Tomorrows dream, Snowblind or Supernaut belong to Sabbaths finest. When i listen to this album, i always feel like, im lying on a beach, on a hot summer day

Yep, "Snowblind" is a classic song, no doubt. Subject matter is pretty lame though - it's just about doing cocaine. From all accounts, the boys were pretty heavily into at this stage of their lives. The party was in full swing but it has to end at some stage.

Rating: 9 It's a delightfully messy record. Love those massive riffs in "Under The Sun".

Rating: 9 The best out of their first 4.

This is more blues, totally they lost touch whit ''real BS doom sound'' what band had at begging, still we can hear little doom, but more blues, hard rock, HM sound and seems band start to experiment whit a sound
Was this 1th album what band recorded under drugs?

Their debut was way more blues than this one and Black Sabbath have never been truly doom anyway, just a couple of songs can be regarded as proto-doom.

Yes also true, but Paranoid and BS was more ''proto doon'' also bluesy more ''heavier'' then rest of they/thay work whit Ozzy ,
This seems more ''calmer'' to me
3rdWorld - 06.02.2015 at 22:24
Well I don't see any dip in quality or form here from the preceding three masterpieces, just more blues infused songwriting here. Still helluva lot addictive and Supernaut is my most favourite song of them after Hand Of Doom and Iron Man and definitely the highlight of this record.
Ruchesko - 21.04.2015 at 17:51
Rating: 7 All very mellow. An appetite for Ozzy Osbourne is a necessity - something I lack.
