Enslaved is one of those few bands out there that is getting better and better after every release. Their music, while it keeps its roots, is developing towards complete perfection.

The new album pretty much follows the footsteps of their previous album Below the Lights, but even better and more complete. For all of you who have not heard Below the Lights and Enslaved´s earlier work (is that even possible for a black metal fan?) I must warn you that this is not one of your typical "grim" or "necro" black metal albums. So if that is what you are searching for, just something that is trOO and all that stuff, then please, don't waste your time here because trust me, this is not what you are looking for. This album is for a bit more, well let's say; "mature" fans of black metal.

Rating: 9 A very interesting album given that it is supposedly the band's 'breakthrough' album in a lot of people's eyes. 'Lunar Force', 'Return to Yggdrasil' and the sprawling 'Neogenesis' are all staples of the band's creative talents, but it's really the atmosphere that was previously provided on albums like 'Mardraum' and 'Monumension' that truly makes 'Isa' the stunning work it is.

Rating: 9 I know I'm a bit of a latecomer on this album (considering it was released in 2004) but having just digested it I have to comment that I feel it to be an outstanding achievement by an amazing group of musicians.

Rating: 10 Yes, it's a masterpiece. I remember wandering Metal Storm's hallways near the time I first joined and wanted to try out black metal. After a bunch of research I think I ended up trying Transylvanian Hunger and this album. Probably a wise decision as I've never gotten bored of this.

Same opinion mr. Jooe. never bored of Isa album. But In Progressive metal era this album still can't beat Blackwater Park.
Unique in this album have black atmosphere and great progressive elements.
