It seems to me that there are two types of metal fan - those, who already knew about GWAR's brilliance, and those who will now feel like they were missing out on something. Already "Violence has Arrived" was a very good thrash metal album but "War Party" can easily compete with the best the genre can offer. Thats right, in the year 2004, GWAR stands in the same line as Exodus, Death Angel and Megadeth...

Rating: 7 Shorter but snappier than the previous album, though in turn this costs memorable songwriting slightly. There's a definite increase in thrash metal influences (more than hinted at on previous album "violence has Arrived", but still...), and that's probably why the album doesn't seem to overstay its welcome. Highlights for me would be 'Krosstika' and 'The Reaganator', both of which have ludicrously inventive titles.
