I've recently been listening to a lot of Primordial before they released 'The Gathering Wilderness', and I can see the difference in production automatically in comparison. However, the atmosphere in each of the band's albums seems to give off the same celtic effect each time, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. 'Storm before Calm' is a strong example of this, with its tense build-ups within the longer songs and ventures into black metal territory within the shorter songs. A great album, and proof that Primordial were still damn good before they started playing large festivals.
