This one is in Hetfield, I mean, the table, since 6 or 7 years ago... I hope the wait will be worth...

On further listening, I'm actually a little disappointed by this in comparison to their previous album(s). When Eden Burns is without question my favorite album of theirs, and perhaps my expectations where a little high (as they should be), but this album didn't share a lot of those soaring choruses that nearly every song on When Eden Burns had. It's a great album, but I was hoping for more.

I noticed this too about the lack of "souring" courses. Piet Sielck of Iron Savior provided backing vocals on Evolution Purgatory and When Eden Burns, which I'm thinking they layered his vocals on top of Jens to made the "souring" effect. After the stint with Piet leaving Savage Circus, he wasn't available for backing vocals this time around. I still enjoy this album more than their previous albums, though.

I was unaware that Piet was providing the backing vocals (I just assumed Jens was performing the backing vocals as well). Now that you mention the album lacking them, it completely stands out. Wow, it's amazing what happens when something as seemingly trivial as backing vocals has such a profound impact upon its absence.

I seriously thought this was Blind Guardian's Hansi Kürsch side project. I really did. The guy has a really good voice and the instrumental is solid and catchy, but retaining the heaviness. It's a really well-crafted Power Metal album and I cant help to find it funny how this band falls so much under a copy-cat category when Fiction Maze delivers music thats just so much better than what so many Power bands are creating.

This is a nice surprise, I enjoyed it quite a bit, it sounds like Blind Guardian getting a Meshuggah treatment, inserting some thrashy riffs here and there. Great musicianship and awesome vocals.
