The first thing that comes to mind to anyone putting this CD on, is something along the lines of "hey, is that an Opeth album or what?"? Yes, on this Fall Of Icons, Ikuinen Kaamos do sound a lot like Mikael Åkerfeldt's band, to a point they could be called a copycat.

But are they, really? Well, this album is all about five long, drawn-out songs that meander between harsh parts and soft, melancholic moments. Yes, that does sound familiar. Especially when you can sometimes almost predict when the song will calm down, or start being aggressive again.

I cant believe how much they ripped Opeth off D But songwriting is perfect, just originality somewhere about 5.

Yeah sounds impressive and glaringly an Opeth-rip off which is why I cant rate this very highly. They definitely have the talent and songwriting skills but now they need to find their own sound.

Needless to say they unashamedly ripped Opeth off!
But It isn' a weak imitation, and eventhough it doesn't match Opeth it is still enjoyable to listen. It helps to wait for the next Opeth release

Disappointed with this one.... the clean vocals aren't great. Their earlier material was better but maybe I haven't given this one enough time.

I don't understand how you say it is an Opeth rip-off and then give it 9's or 10's
still I will check it out soon

Sometime i think that i am hearing Opeth in this record...but i really like Statues...anyway their composing and songwriting is quite great

but i didn't like the vocals here and i think they need to focus more in create an unique sound for them

Wow, midway through the first song I forgot who I was listening to and said to myself "I don't remember what Opeth album this is" then looked at my Itunes and realized my mistake. Definitely talented, but I think that Closure (EP) had a lot more originality to it. Over all, I like it so far, just reallllly needs a good dose of originality.

My favorite album the year so far. Very cool and well structured melodies. Though it is a bit inferior to "Closure" I love this piece of extreme metal a lot. Very recommended.

As good as the band's debut in my opinion, with more focus on the extreme side of things, particularly with "Statues" and "In Ruins". The closing track doesn't really feel like a closing moment and overstays its welcome if I'm honest (16 minutes is way too ambitious even for a band aping mid-period Opeth), but I generally liked the mood throughout this album, fitting the melodic and melancholic moments perfectly. A pity Ikuinen Kaamos hasn't done anything since but I wonder if they would have shied away from a musical direction so closely knitted to one of this sub-genre's frontrunners.
