GWAR is very likely the most original thrash metal act out there; you just have to look at them to know what I mean. They are dressed as monsters from outer space and their live shows are just outrageous. This all contributes to their lyrical content, which isn't that serious either. Still, I count them as thrash metal because musically this album, Lust in Space (2009), is nothing more than aggressive, up-tempo thrash metal.

Gotta say Lords and Masters is my favourite.
speaking of Gwar, AUX tv's got a fucking awesome prize pack courtesy of Metalblade records, including drumsticks autographed by Gwar and their new CD, as well as an autographed copy of the Cannibal Corpse comic book and a ton of other shit that you dream about at night.

Check it out:

There's less of a thrash-centric approach to songwriting here, at least it seems to me that way anyway. The title track and many other songs seem a little slower and heavier, favouring an almost epic, ambitious tone over the hard slog of bashing out riff after riff. That said, it's still a fairly enjoyable record, the title track and "the Price of Peace" being two of my favourite GWAR songs.
