Despite being one of the longest running death metal bands from the United States, Immolation just haven't had anywhere near the same amount of success as such bands as Deicide and Cannibal Corpse. Album number eight Majesty And Decay breaks no boundaries stylistically, but it does provide another brutal crushing in Immolation's own subtle style.

Released earlier this year, this album is still destroying speakers in its wake. Majesty And Decay has to be Immolation's best album to date. Absolutely crushing, intense death metal.

I haven't listened to alot of Immolation's work but Majesty and Decay was a great way to familiarize myself with them. I listened to Unholy Cult just 2 days back and found it abit wanting..This one though, I loved!

Oh yea, I was really surprised with this album. It is some of the best material that they have released in awhile. One nice thing about this band is that each album has a different sound...and this one does too, although I could definitely see some similarities to Shadows.

That's unusual since most of the fans say that Unholy Cult & Close To A World Below are their best albums by far.

..which I found abit weird. Herzebeth also praised the record to the heavens in his review. It just didn't stick with me like it did with most fans..

A good album, but is worse even than ''Harnessing Ruin'' and ''Shadows In the light''...

Best Immolation album since "Unholy Cult". Very majestic, powerful and dark, like it should be. If this album was realesed in 2009 year it would beath both Nile's and Behemoth's albums, which were the best in recent year. Only Morbid Angel is able to beat it, but not for sure. Absolutely a contender for best death album of last 5 years.

1?! That's saying it's on the same level of something like Lulu or a Justin Bieber record..

Chunkier production and for that reason the riffs seem heavier, but overall it's an album no greater than, say Harnessing Ruin. It's still more or less run-of-the-mill groove done the Immolation way and I found a few songs here clunkier than I thought they would be, but it's then made up for with the pacier likes of "The Purge", the title track and closer "The Comfort of Cowards". It is however a good place to start for someone wanting to hear what post 2005 Immolation sounds like however.
