Even before this album was released and before anyone could have heard a sound of it, quite everyone knew that this will not become an album worth a 10. Children Of Bodom have changed too much to return to the old awesome tunes. The band stated before the release of it that Relentless Reckless Forever would happen to be the best Bodom album ever. Blah blah the same shit a band always cries out for marketing, but in this case it even sounded ridiculous. I admit that I was one of those who decided not to spend money on this record. But now I am glad that I am not that firm with my principles in some cases! Expecting some Blooddrunk shit with only more party atmosphere it was a real surprise to me when I first listened to it.

Imagine a man walking down the road, traveling right down the middle, never wavering, never stopping. Maybe it's dark out, a slight echo to his footsteps. All of a sudden, the man stops. His ears perk up for a second, shrugs it off and keeps right on walking. That is about as close as Children Of Bodom are on this record to returning to their classic sound.

  Will NOT be buying this...
ForeverDarkWoods - 10.01.2011 at 00:30
What do I have to say about this album? Only that those are some of the gayest song titles I've seen in my life. Pussyfoot Miss Suicide cracks me up especially.

This is sad. I hope whoever wrote those dies from lyrical HIV.

Am I the only one that thinks these song titles look like they were conceived by a bunch of 14 year olds?

That's an insult to 14-year olds if you ask me.

This band gets more and more moronic with age.

Exactly my thoughts.
Although, these titles do get some competition from the titles of Darkthrone's latest stuff.

Come on, later Darkthrone is awesome! The difference is that later Darkthrone is quite satirical. My guess is this isn't.

Been listening to "was it worth it?" on youtube, and that really is the question I'm asking myself "will it be worth even downloading it?". that song is a shame. shoo the new CoB
deliverance7 - 02.02.2011 at 01:14
Hope to be better than blooddrunk

Rating: 5 After hearing the new songs, I think I'll give this album a 6, if not a 5 when I hear the whole thing.

Opinions obviously differ because I think later Darkthrone is total crap.
They should have called a quit after "Transylvanian Hunger".
BloodFireDeath - 12.02.2011 at 00:08
I was hoping this album would have a song called BODOMless Pit haha

Rating: 8 This album looks to continue the downward spiral...I don't have high hopes for it...was it worth it is a b-side of the song blooddrunk(thought that song was good in my eyes), ugly sounds a tad better...when I heard first the spoof of was it worth it I said, oh they are going to a more melodeath sound(haha, yes they are extreme power metal in my eyes) just be dissapointed.
Mr.Tugboat ;) - 21.02.2011 at 04:02
Arghh how does one of my fav bands of all time go from epic to absolute shit! they hae one of the best line ups in finland and are producing shit like this, gave up on them afterblooddrunk but jeez they are getting worse. Americanized is what us Finn's are calling them
tmclane - 02.03.2011 at 22:52
Rating: 8 Just finished listening to it. Definitely a step up from Blooddrunk and Are You Dead Yet? Maybe not old Bodom, but a much better effort is encouraging.
Weaponz248 - 03.03.2011 at 00:00
Rating: 8 Wow! Just finished listening to it for the first time and all I can say is Damn!!! It is the best since HCDR. Very very good CD. I love it.
Lachy - 03.03.2011 at 00:38
Yeah just listened through it shits all over blood drunk. Its like a mix of everything old and new in an awesome blend. Very happy with it
neonxaos - 03.03.2011 at 00:58
Funny how people who have actually heard the new album seem to have a different opinion.
Wes - 03.03.2011 at 05:22
Rating: 7 Yup, listen to the album then judge it. This album is better than HCDR, it's actually somewhat GOOD aside from the lyrics and song titles.
beyondtehdarksun - 03.03.2011 at 09:46
Rating: 8 Now that makes me feel relieved. I was hoping for a decent follow-up to HCDR at last, which is one of my all-time favorites.
Drunken Master - 03.03.2011 at 19:19
Listening to this on youtube and the first three songs sound pretty good, but I still hate the new vocals.
Drunken Master - 03.03.2011 at 19:48
Just finished listening to all songs but the bonus track and it sounds good overall. A couple weak tracks, but definately a lot better than I anticipated.
bluegreengod - 03.03.2011 at 20:40
Just listened to the whole thing. It sounds really good IMO, although the vocal distortion is a bit excessive at times. It's pretty cool that a band like COB earns a few fans around the world after years and years of touring, etc. and suddenly if they change sound at all --SELLOUT!-- if they don't change their sound --STALE!-- if nobody liked metal at all, certainly every metal album released would then be a masterpiece.
lehka - 03.03.2011 at 21:07
This album is the best Bodom album ever! I was like WTF when I heard Was It Worth It.. Intro was kinda lame imo.. but it was pretty awesome after all 5/5 stars to this album
Elio - 03.03.2011 at 21:27
Will I even download this album? meh...
Lachy - 04.03.2011 at 06:07
Yeah after listening to it 5 times over i would have to say it probs my favorite cob album. The must has really matured. Im just so happy that it turned out good so all the haters can eat shit

Haha..me too. But truth be told, Pussyfoot Miss Suicide is a pretty decent song..
Kubina91 - 04.03.2011 at 16:12
  This album is good job.
Destructo - 04.03.2011 at 19:29
Rating: 7 Significant improvement from Blooddrunk definitely. But the magic of the old Bodom is definitely gone forever. I guess this change in direction might get some new fans that previously ignored the band. But for all of the people who just love the first 3 albums, this will still sound like a disappointment. Personally, it's a 6.5 from me, just because they have improved the sound since Blodddrunk, but I still crave for those old albums of the early 2000's. Sigh.
Lachy - 05.03.2011 at 07:36
If a band kept on making albums that sounded exactly the same they would become very boring so i think change is always necessary
atkmetal123 - 05.03.2011 at 07:54
Blooddrunk is even better than this one lol!

...unless change leads to more boring things than stagnation would.

Stagnation is always better than devolution.
Giok99 - 05.03.2011 at 13:34
Rating: 7 Nice one, the first three song are awesome. After that, it's ok but nothing really devastating. Anyway, best one since HCDR. Nice solo from both guitar and keyboard and they play faster again.
Aylee_Bodom - 05.03.2011 at 20:05
Rating: 6 To me this is definitely the worst album by COB. I've always supported the band, but the last two albums are just lame. They keep going downwards... Like Ravenking said, changes are good as long as the result is better, not worse. Ugh.

Why do non-American's think so lowly of Americans... Jealousy I predict, but thats not the topic at hand. As far as this CoB album, the songs I've heard of it are fine-catchy enjoyable somewhat pop-esque metal tunes. Nothing to die for, but nothing to hate on either.
beyondtehdarksun - 06.03.2011 at 10:10
Rating: 8 I definitely has some HCDR feel to it. I can't stop playing it on repeat... especially the title song. And "Was it worth it?" is a great song, after a couple of listens.
morsus - 06.03.2011 at 13:42
Rating: 3 If this is how they would sound at their early ages, they would have never grown famous
GillianBouton - 06.03.2011 at 21:30
This is better dan Blooddronk, that's sure. Maybe better dan AYDY?
hadriel - 07.03.2011 at 00:49
Better than their last effort, but still bad.

Rating: 7 So it's out tomorrow then? I love the first four albums....but this time it seems I could be wasting my money? Maybe I should download the leak first.
Angelic Storm - 07.03.2011 at 16:43
Okay, I've just finished listening to this, and after one listen, I will say it is definitely better than I was expecting. "Ugly" is the best song they've done in a very long time, COB at their finest! "Pussyfoot Miss Suicide" despite it's ridiculous title, is actually a decent song. lol I love it's mid-section, which features an enormous riff followed by a great solo. "Not My Funeral" is a good song too, and the last song "Northpole Throwdown" has a great thrash vibe, and I love the speed of it.

Im certainly pleasantly surprised by the album. It is a bit patchy, but they are still capable of writing some great stuff. xD

Edit: I still need to listen to the title track, as I was interrupted when I tried to listen to it the first time.
ErnilEnNaur - 07.03.2011 at 23:21
It was certainly better than I expected, not exactly a return to the good old days, but a good album. I will not be surprised if this wins biggest surprise at the 2011 MS awards.
Luneth - 08.03.2011 at 00:04
Rating: 7 Expected worse, but it was allright. Nothing special, hope people don't claim that its CoB's return, as it really isn't. Being better than AYDY and Bloodrunk doesn't get them any prizes...
