Folk metal stuff, anyone? Yes, we know we're in for a ride in old, pagan lands as soon as the intro starts with its tribal drumming and flutes.
But read on, read on, even if you're not a fan of this kind of metal, as Bran Barr might actually surprise you!

Just a word about the band: Bran Barr actually exists since 1995, and Sidh is their second album. They come from Brittany, the French region which still clings fiercely to its Celtic heritage. Of course, it shows in their music. So let's delve deeper into this matter.

Truly a pleasant surprise for me, i missed a great folk like this. The album starts very strong with the first three songs, above all "Celebration - Son Of Nuadh Amhach" and "Fury - Exile Of the Orphan", outstanding, this two the best of the album in my opinion. Continues with a very good instrumental song "Passage - The Curse Of The Manimal", after, althought the rest of the album is more weak, still is solid, with songs like "Rebirth - Morgan's Gift To Righ'Sidh" (great feeling), "Journey - The Grand Quest For The Magical Acorn" and the fantastic cover "Ode Aux Lointains Souverains" =)

Regarding the "Magical Acorn", Celtic druids considered that many plants and fruits had magical abilities so, it's kinda of part of the pagan tradition ...

I heard this album in 2011, so it's not in my top lists for 2010, but it should be ... just great stuff.

But my heart is warm as the darkened sun above me...
Nothing can never take away
What I've seen with these tired eyes
