Yes, I was surprised, but found myself playing it a 2nd time, then a 3rd. Actually it's very good.

Their weakest effort, not bad, but compared to their first two albums, it's rather disappointing. At least for me.

Enjoyable album if you take out (Go To Hell and On The Plane) it ruin the overall effect and feel of it.
What was the point putting (go to hell) so early on the cd (The lyric are really bad).
And (on the plane) great feel to it but the lyric are boring. The great thing about this album it's simple and easy to listen to 7/10 from me anyway.

The worst stuff I've ever heard from Mr Wilson
Aviv Geffen wrote most of this album from what i read, Steven worked more on producing.
A disappointment for me, maybe I'll give it a second chance.

yeah I know but Wilson was a part of it . maybe he was to busy working on GfD and so Aviv Geffen put up the song writing duties.

In my opinion this album is slightly underrated. It may not be as diverse as the band's first two albums (which, in my opinion, are hard to surpass in terms of musical quality), but 'Welcome...' still contains that magical ingredient that makes blackfield's music so fresh and interesting. Interestingly enough the highlights are tracks 6-9 and 'DNA', each developing their own unique sound. 'Dissolving with the Night' almost touches on 70's progressive rock with its beautiful piano flourishes, whilst the instrumental 'Blood' gets more and more intense with every second. The album doesn't begin too well, as 'Glass House' and 'Go to Hell' are two of the weakest tracks in any steven wilson project. The fact that most of the album was written by Geffen isn't too much of a bother for me, as the songs themselves give off a generally laidback atmosphere.
