Hamferð, Tórshavn, 2008. A band was born. Their first demo "Doomo" was released in 2010. The same year also saw their debut album "Vilst Er Síðsta Fet". Jón Hansen, that's the name of the singer. That mentioned because I think he's pretty much the biggest difference here when compared to other doom bands. His clean vocals are captivating and I think there's still lots of potential reserved. I was a bit disappointed with the lenght of this album and came to think is 30 minutes of doom metal (with some folky parts) enough to be called as full-length, or is it just EP? Well anyway, it's promoted as a full-lenght... If it was longer with this quality, I would have considered a higher grade. There's this Faroese feeling going on all the way (thanks to Týr), although at some points this album makes the listener think of other doom fellows out there. What I'd like to hear from Hamferð in the future would be a new record with more songs to enjoy, every song lasting about 16 minutes (ok, not every song but some songs). More epic, more great clean vocals and more surprising folk moments. Vast oceans are awaiting to be explored after this exciting debut.
