What? Already? Don't know what to expect, the last album was pretty bi-polar to be honest. Hopefully, this one will deliver in spades.

Amazing! While certainly a new style the first half of We're Here was absolutley brilliant. I didnt care much for the slow and boring last part though.

So, were you disappointed by the overambitious and incoherent project of "Evinta"? Well, "Falling Deeper" succeeds where "Evinta" turned out to be a total failure: no endless orchestral suites that last for over ten minutes, but brief, focused songs that just revisit the old doom sound with some beautiful strings, piano, acoustic guitar and mellow vocals, always keeping the gloominess unaltered. And while the songs from "Evinta" are a pointless collage of classic MDB melodies stretched in tedious compositions, Anathema just capture the essence of each song, sometimes even shortening the original ones ("Sleep In Sanity", "Kingdom", "They Die", "We The Gods") and thus aiming to intensity and emotions rather than to form and length. That's it; Anathema wins. Way shorter (38 minutes) but way stronger, in my opinion.

Good exercise from Anathema, not much more than that really. Maybe it'll make the new fans check out the older albums.
I still prefer the original songs though

Really peaceful and calm album with a little touch of melancholy... Simply perfect, certainly one of the best releases of 2011.

This is a classic! I dont know what they are taking these days but its having heavenly affect on them. The girl was good but unlike anathema. They are becoming more silent and peaceful day by day. Gotta pump up a bit next time.

What the.... I knew they were working with a new album but I totally missed the date. Have to listen to it now. I remember almost nothing from the previous one but just remember that I did not digg it that much... Too soft, friendly and just not emotional enough. Hopefully this will be better.

A lot of people didn't like the last album, unlike me I think it'll be in the same vein, but Anathema can always surprise us. Apparently it'll come out on April next year.

Yeah... also, I didn't look at the tracklist so I found out today that it was a re-interpretation of some tracks from the debut and first couple of EP's. Will check it out.

Yes, I was talking about the new album. Falling Deeper was cool, but just that. I really like the original songs just the way they are

Being honest, I wouldn't mind another album like this, I think like it too much It's so calming, soothing and relaxing, but at the same time has that feeling of sadness typical of the band (at least of the earlier material)... They Die, Everwake, J'ai Fait une Promesse and Sunset of Age are just brilliant... And Anneke is just great!

I think the purpose of this album was to show that "the way the music is performed and produced has changed and grown immeasurably but the heart of the music, the melody and harmony, the structures of chords that pull at the heart strings remains the same as ever" as Danny stated in the foreword. I guess, in this sense "Falling Deeper" serves its purpose, but still, in the end of the day, I'd rather listen to the original versions of those songs. I agree with BloodTears on that.

Wasted album. The original songs are hard to recognise to the extent that they should have just given them different names and called it an ambient interlude album

I understand this is supposed to be an ambient modern classical release and that their typical atmospheric brand of alt-rock isn't on display, but these songs could and should have been so much more engaging. Instead they seem to be stuck on "intro" mode and never go anywhere. This works for the first song but after 10 minutes of the same thing it just feels frustrating, like I wanted to break into my speakers and manipulate the sound because nothing was happening.
A failed ambition to say the least.
