Also known as Woods II

Written in January - March 2004 in David Gold's Toronto, Ontario apartment and recorded, mixed and mastered during weekends April - June 2004, at Spectre Sound in Tecumsch, Ontario.
Released on David Gold's independent label: Krankhaus Records
The original pressing had faulty tracklisting, re-released in 2008 with correct tracklisting.

Near the beginning of this recording, the rest of the band decided not to continue with Woods of Ypres, leaving the guitar and bass tracks almost completely recorded. Connor Sharpe (bass) and Steve Jones (guitar) are not properly credited for these performances in the album's booklet.

Re-released on Earache Records June 23rd 2014, on both CD and a limited edition vinyl. The colour vinyl releases are exclusive to the Earache Webstore, and the "Summer's Envy" vinyl is limited to ONE PER CUSTOMER!

The colouring and numbers of the vinyls are the following:
100 - Summer's Envy
200 - Pursuit of the Sun
300 - Allure of the Earth
400 - Black

I found this band while surfing on the net for new stuff, and I must say that the first thing that attracted me was the "genre" of the music, Woods Of Ypres call themselves "Summer Black Metal" and while you may think this is a happy, joyful Black Metal, is not. The Canadians are here to prove that summer can be a time of grief also.

I listened to ALL of Woods albums, why wouldn''t I? Some people go apeshit over their albums, so I check it out.

I just don't see how you can find this boring then, unlike the otehr WoY albums, this one has tons of layers and different melodies.

Just listen the Outro: The End Of August.

even though something might have loads of layers and different melodies it can still be totally boring. Most of Dream theater''s songs are also boring as hell.

I have always suspected Undercraft to be deaf (read some of his doom reviews) and this review proves it

Their best effort for me. They know how to blend the genres, well-balanced disc. It misses the cheese and maybe this is the point!
