At my first listen it was like meh, nice, but nothing special...but now, after few more spins it really started to grow on me...it is doomish album, but with lots of twists (black metal parts, death metal parts, ulver/empyrium like parts etc), so you can't really predict what's next throughout any of songs...this is one intricate piece of art which I truly enjoy!

Yea it's a great and rich album, though I don't enjoy that much the most accessible tunes like "Cathedral Walls" and "Silent Towers". The opener and "Hate, Lead The Way" are among the best StS' songs!

I've always been a huuuge StS fan, but this album still managed to blow me away on the first listen even...if it gets better with subsequent listens I cannot wait. *runs to buy a vinyl copy asap*
Seriously though, they managed to build so much atmosphere with this album, it's great. I especially love how well this band manages to somehow make doom metal 'fast' on certain tracks without skipping a beat. The album flows seamlessly, sounds gorgeous, the black metal influences are a great addition...there's nothing I don't like about this album other than the fact that it ends.

Seriously man, everytime I read your comments on this band you come out with crap like this. Sure they are a more mainstream type of doom but comparing them to bands like Mar de Grises is foolish. Forget the genre tags cos both play different types of music.
Still getting into this new album so I'll hold off on a rating for now.

"Of Death And Corruption"
"Night Will Forgive Us"
These two are fine, but I wish those could have been better. Swallow The Sun hasn't really done any majestic finisher of an album, so far. Grief. Otherwise, really enjoying it. They know how to use simple ideas, broaden those on the run, put them in the right places of the constant flow, and how to decorate the ceremonial cake with impacts of mellow humaneness.

This a pretty good album I felt, I really like "Hate Lead the Way", "Labyrinth of London", "Of Death and Corruption" and "April 14th". Just noticing this now but the vocals give me a very Depeche Mode vibe, especially in "This Cut Is The Deepest".

"Hate, Lead The Way" is a killer! simply amazing!!! other highlights for me are the title song, "Labyrinth of London" and "April 14th", though all the song are equally interesting, even those softer ones... definitely the best album of 2012 for me so far!

I donno man, I think its leagues behind their debut. From the very first note of The Morning Never Came I knew I was in for something special. This one has moments where its good, some where its great. However, there are so many songs that meander and never really achieve anything, or ones that just straight up suck (Cathedral Walls...garbage). Might require a few more listens. I definitely did enjoy it more on the second go around, because I knew what to expect and didn't have the outrageous expectations I did upon the first listen.

It was hard to vote 9 or 10, but "Emerald Forrest and the Blackbird" and last 4 track was awesome! specially "Labyrinth Of London (Horror Pt. IV)" and "April 14th" has a fantastic doom atmosphere, what I expect from Swallow the Sun.
And also the last track lyrics was wonderful!
really great album

Very powerful album, combining a lot of genres together without losing focus on their doomish style , but i can't call it an original album and that is their weakness beside the good but ordinary songwriting. A solid 8 for me.
