There's improvements, and then there's astronomical improvements. Think of it this way; Breathing The Fire was a damn solid album, that is, it was, until Forever Abomination decided to strut right up, undo it's belt, drop it's pants and pinch off a triple-coiler all over everything Skeletonwitch has done to date.

New Skeletonwitch this year also? Sweet!
Apothecary - 02.06.2011 at 04:03
Isn't Tony Laureano with them now? If he's on this, then this is gonna be a sick fucking album, no doubt.

New Skeletonwitch this year also? Sweet!

Emphasis on also. I'm stoked for this one, hopefully it can be added to the mile-long list of great albums that came out this year.

Though I agree Skyrim (despite not being music) is also something I'm stoked for this year, I think you might be a little deluded if you still think Wintersuns Time is actually going to come out.

That or you're completely unaware of how many different excuses have already been used to bump back Wintersuns Time.

No, I'm aware. They've played some of the songs live already so I can see it coming out in December or early 2012. No reason to attack me on this. Geez. All I did is post an excited comment about my opinion that included speculation of an album release. Anyways no reason to argue something like a release date.

Rating: 9 Excellent album! Easily one of the best albums of the year. Never been a fan of this band until now.
Troy Killjoy - 14.10.2011 at 07:32
Pretty good black-tinged thrash... Vocalist sometimes turns me off when he barks like Dani Filth, but the album's pretty groovy overall.
Absak - 17.10.2011 at 23:44
Rating: 9 That name sure is funny though.

Is it really THAT good ? i mean their other albums lost my interest in no time at all.. the only song i ever heard that was good enough to keep me interested the whole way through was Cast Into The Open Sea. someone throw me a bone here and tell me whether or not you think i'll like this release.
Diamonds - 21.10.2011 at 05:49
Okay my bad i just read the review. i think i'll check it out if it blows everything else out of the water like that.

Rating: 6 Usually thrash\black is my thing, but this one is like cheesy glam blackend speed disco-thrash.

Not bad, but I have heard better.

I think you really should check this one out. Even I thought their previous albums were kinda boring. But this is definitely a HUUGE step forward for the band.

Yup! great and very energetic album. I remember when Beyond the Permafrost came out I thought these guys had something going for them, I'm glad the potential manifested itself.

Still waiting.
musicalkaratekid - 07.11.2011 at 00:23
Rating: 9 An extremely good album, but not their best. Some of their darker moments are displayed on this album, thats for sure. Cant wait to see them with the black dahlia murder!
Vikcen - 08.12.2011 at 14:13
Rating: 10 I love the guitar riffs and the sound they have achieved (specially the drum) with this album, in my opinion their best. The album starts very good, but even seems like the disc goes to better gradually until the end, but i missed a couple of songs more, you will want more of this good music. Attention to Rejoice In Misery and My Skin Of Deceit awesome!
boo-boo - 16.12.2011 at 00:01
Rating: 7 Totally fuckin' catchy album!!! I love the riffs and the energy it fills me with
Metal_Buff - 16.12.2011 at 06:49
Rating: 9 This album is just so awesome! It's amazing how many cool riffs, different (and seemingly hard to reconcile) styles of playing, as well as vocals are packed into this album, hell even into each song! This has been a go-to for me lately when I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for, a distinction which used to go to Immortal - At the Heart of Winter, and I can see some comparisons there. The more 'Black Metal' moments are some of my favorites (Erased and Forgotten) and that style of vocals has never been so infectious before.

But let's forget about all the genre labels here, that takes away from the enjoyment of a really cool, really catchy, original album!
sundin - 16.12.2011 at 12:03
I find it fast and nice, a tipica leasy black/thrash. Maybe it can foreseeable and a bit ripetitive during the listenings
algirdongas - 18.12.2011 at 16:44
Rating: 9 I dont get what some people dont like about this album. it's fast ,somewhat catchy and melodic , the vocals are well-executed what's not to like about it?
the only thing I reject about it- is that it's often called black thrash which is just plain wrong because the only black metal elements on this album are the vocals.when someone mentions black thrash or thrashy black I think of Immortal which is just much more black than Skeletowitch.

People who call this album black-thrash metal have no idea how black-thrash bands sound like.

This is plain cheesy modern melodic death metal.

you heard it from the kvlt himself.

Alex Fenger - 03.02.2012 at 04:47
Rating: 7 This is really great, it's not the best of the genre (at all) but it's still really good, and a major step up for Skeletonwitch, considering how boring their other albums got after one listen through.
Sonic MrSumo - 14.06.2012 at 02:31
Rating: 10 This album ROCKS!!!!! Yeah it's short...but that what helps to make it so good. There is zero bullshit filler!
Lit. - 13.07.2012 at 20:39
  Short, but sweet.
RokBoks - 03.08.2012 at 06:59
Rating: 9 Whoever said this was cheesy glam watchamacallit...no. This album is very very good, but not mind blowing awesome. Great production, great thrashy deathy sound and just a kick ass fast paced ride of evil metally goodness. Gripes include very short songs and album in general. I really think this album deserves something like an 8.5 thus why I gave it a 9 to nudge it forward. on a scale of 5: /5
BlueMobius - 24.06.2013 at 16:01
Rating: 7 I popped this album back in the CD player this week and I noticed something that didn't really hit me when I was spinning this when it was released. The vocals sound really muffled in the mix. It feels like there is no attack in the vocal delivery. I wonder if it is the way the album was mixed?
