Oh, this blues of John Norum - it springs form everywhere. And those occasional oriental motives, entangled in some of the songs - a bit Led Zeppelin style.
Still hearing it for a first time, but I believe this album is not a step backwards for europe. Not a step further also, but I like them for what they are. I'd like it more if it was a bit more heavy, but still it's very cool rock'n'roll
I must confess, I'm not the biggest Europe fan in this universe but I enjoyed this album quite a lot. Such songs as "Firebox" and "Bag of Bones" are great rock numbers, while I can hardly stop myself from continuously humming "Not Supposed to Sing the Blues" - it's this contagious.
Overall the rocking drive gets lower by the end of the album and it's the reason why I gave "Bag of Bones" only 8 and not 9.
