Early this January, during the first days of 2012, Lethian Dreams returned with their second full-length, Season Of Raven Words. One could expect a bit of the same, already done before atmospheric melodic doom that blends anguished or grunting male vocals with ethereal relaxing female vocals that can be found on their debut album, but also on a hundred other releases.

Slight improvement on the debut I think, some quality doom.

Slight improvement on the debut I think, some quality doom.

Not at all, the first was much better, and the songwriting and riffs here are so generic that i heard it a lot before.

Granted it's been a while since I last gave the debut a listen, but I remember that's how I would have described that album, though I enjoyed it. This one was a bit different I found. Still not totally original doom but it sounds decent enough to me. I really liked the track 'Raven' and the shorter one 'Invisible'.

While their debut album made me fall asleep of boredom, Season of Raven Words at least has slightly more going for it. Sure it suffers from some of the same issues feeling bland and unoriginal at times but the absence of harsh vocals and shorter running time works in its favor.

In the end it is a good album, nothing more, nothing less, with some nice songs and pleasant melodies.

The first was really much better and had one of the best doom vocalists ever - Carlos D'Água.

I would like a wife with a such voice. She could yell at me all day.
