I discovered Alaskan through Metal Storm and immediately I was intrigued. Upon visiting their bandcamp page and finding it was a free download, I was ecstatic. After listening to it a few times, I was impressed.
I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere and by the music itself. The release itself is a primarily instrumental one, which is neither a good thing nor a bad thing. The vocals on this release are good, which could be a let down to some as they do not appear too often. However, the lack of vocals is made up for by the amazing guitar work. Gary does a very good job, he changes it up often to keep you interested in this album, in fact, he changes it up a lot. Another thing that caught my ears was the great drums. The drums flow extraordinarily well throughout this album. They fit and capture the atmosphere perfectly.

One of the most beautiful and incredible sludge albums released in 2011. Sadly, very underrated. Check out if you like great atmosphere.

Loved this one as well. Step into the "Mecca" of 2011 sludge.

That's all it took for me to give this a listen. I liked it a lot and usually I never listen to sludge (or whatever you wanna call it).

No problem. Defintitely worth checking out. Gonna download it from bandcamp when i get home from work. I actually have a lot to get from band camp when I get home, including some of the metalgaze nominees. Bandcamp = Awesome!

Very cool album. To bad it didn't get more exposure, but now it lurks in obscurity and is truly klvt bought it off bandcamp. They said I could pay nothing so I paid $3, put that in your pipe and smoke it.
