  New album already?
Well I shouldn't be surprised since the last one was made with embarrasing leftovers from Lemuria/Sirius B...
tirim4 - 14.02.2012 at 18:16
I wasn't to impressed by their latest album, let's hope this one is better.

'Land of Canaan' and 'Kings of Edom' are worth dying for. The rest is.... forgettable, rather
Nocturno-Inculto - 22.06.2012 at 07:30
Curious, I do not like "Land of Canann, neither Kings of Edom", but I love Sitra Ahra, Hellequin and Din...

Yeah, I agree those two are definitely the highlights but I'd add 'Hellequin'. The album is worth those three songs, but the rest are good enough to enjoy a full listen.
Anyway, I read they are taking a whole different direction with this one. I wonder what are they going to do...

Wtf... Flowers Of Evil is the name for their upcoming tour, not the album.............. bad edit.

One thing does not contradict the other, I'm pretty sure they confirmed it themselves to Therion's Chilean fan club or something like that.
Unna Med - 15.07.2012 at 00:47
Can't wait for the release...Why so long?!
As for the last album...I thought is was very, very good and intence. One of the few albums that cathed on me from the first listening. Lemuria and Sirius B failed in accomplishing that task. As for me, I prefer Therion's Theli, think that it's their best album and one of the best albums ever released.
Ellrohir - 28.08.2012 at 12:35
According to the last update, this album should be distributed only during the gigs of the upcoming tour

Rating: 6 The website of Effenaar (the venue where Therion will kick off their tour) posted the following news:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
"After 25 years, the Band Therion has decided to start a different journey. Therion main man and founder Christofer Johnson has announced that there will be no more regular album releases and no more regular tours for many years. The band will perform at Festivals from time to time, but apart from that they will focus on different band projects.

The first project is an art project celebrating the 25th anniversary of the band. The project involves a self released CD that will be entitled "Les Fleurs Du Mal", which will be sold at the band's concerts during the Flowers of Evil tour in Europe. The record will later be licensed and distributed to record stores. At this point, nobody knows how the album sounds, as they are not sending out any promotional copies to the press until the first concert.

At each show of the Flowers of Evil tour, Christofer Johnsson has also announced that he will be spending several hours meeting with the fans, dedicating CD's, making photos, and just hanging out to talk with people.

After this project has ended, the band has said they will be working on a rock opera, a huge project that will take several years to realise."
---------------------------------------------------------------------

So at the least the album will be made available through stores, as for the rest... let's say I'm glad I got my tickets for the effenaar show.

  More like "Gothic Kabbala" hopefully
Unhealer - 13.09.2012 at 00:20
Rating: 8 I'm really stoked to see what this band does without a label backing the record up.
Let's see if it has any direct effect on their music.
Windir2010 - 15.09.2012 at 05:21
I thought the new album to be very good. I am a big Therion fan but thought Lemuria and Sirius B not nearly as good as their latest releases in Sitra and Gothik. Hellequin is the highlight imo, written by former drummer Petter Karlsson, with the eponymous Sitra Ahra , Kali Yuga III ,Cú Chulainn and Land of Canaan as very solid songs. Love Land of Canaan's range of instruments and tempos. I only stop listening at the last track, ill save my children singing for another brick in the wall. Only surpassed by Theli and Vovin imho! Too bad for the long hiatus on more touring .
LeChron James - 19.09.2012 at 07:42
Only distributed at gigs? Odd choice, but I'm sure it'll be on the internet for the taking soon enough.
Ellrohir - 19.09.2012 at 13:02
I think new update is, they will also release it into regular distribution a bit later

also Nuclear Blast is not going to release this (they refused it), but Christopher is going to release it through his own label...and the songs should be french chansons in original, so this may be just one big cover album...

I agree that the songs in their last album are good enough to enjoy a full listen... Sitra Ahra and Kings of Edom are my fave in that album

annodomini - 29.09.2012 at 11:58
It is a cover album. Of some famous french songs. In Therion style.
Unhealer - 29.09.2012 at 17:10
Rating: 8 Sounds a lot like what Aesma Daeva did with "D'Oreste". Even Lori sings some of the songs, I really liked what I checked out so far!

Poupée De Cire, Poupée The Son
Thrax - 29.09.2012 at 19:40
Bought the cd at yesterdays show at Effenaar - Netherlands. Definitely something different this time around. All the songs are in French and are still Therion to my ears. I understand why Nuclear Blast didn't go for it though. It sounds more like a project but then again, it's not like Therion never did anything odd before. I won't rate it just yet. Deserves a couple spins before a balanced assesment can be made, but I do not dislike what I'm hearing.

I still don't find it THAT shocking. Thinking about it, it's almost the same thing Mike Patton did with Mondo Cane.
God Alone - 29.09.2012 at 23:02
Rating: 5 Not as shitty as "Sitra Ahra" to be honest, but still something I really couldn't enjoy.
Dark Cornatus - 30.09.2012 at 01:10
Rating: 6 This is downright horrible. Quite possibly the worst music i've heard in awhile. They have always been one of my top 3 bands, at least for the material up to (and including) Gothic Kabbalah.

Well from what i have read, many "blind fans" seem to hate this so far...

(check "fans-no fans" rating comparison for instance...i know current 12 votes arent too much, but still...)

Ellrohir - 30.09.2012 at 11:14
"Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son" and especially bonus "Les Sucettes" are totally awesome

restartmylife - 30.09.2012 at 13:10
Rating: 4 I really do not know whom that album was written for?...If it's the way of self expression than ok,but it's definitely not for human race creatures. I loved Sirius B and Lemuria very much but that is bull shit.

P.S. The beauty of music is not in making sympho, opera or as many notes per second as you could play but in perfectness of emotion and appropriateness. For example Join Me in death of HIM has four notes, but they are all that's needed. Too many misunderstandings and no music at all
Kamil - 30.09.2012 at 16:20
Rating: 4 Sorry guys and girls from Therion, but I am not going to waste my time on some cover songs.
If you will make at least average regular full lenght album, then we will be the guys to talk to.
R'Vannith - 30.09.2012 at 16:30
Rating: 5 Sacre Bleu! (that's about the limit of my French)
It's an interesting idea but I have no doubt I will have forgotten about this one within a week.
PocketMetal - 30.09.2012 at 18:03
Rating: 6 Thought it could be an 8 hearing the first couple of songs, but sadly all the songs sound the same and there is not enough interesting moments on this album , only the female vocals are superb . but it's not horrible ... I really liked it to some level but as above says it's not something you wanna hear twice in 1 day . very forgettable , no replay value .

As far as I know the entire album is all covers of French chansons from the 60s so can't really be considered a proper Therion album
Lokaeda - 30.09.2012 at 23:01
  Bad covers of bad songs.
Athropos - 01.10.2012 at 09:49
Being French, I know all these pop songs and I can't help but smile while listening to these covers. They sound too... weird to me, maybe they'd sound better to people who don't know the original songs. Except for some riffs, they're also too close to the original ones (like Initials B.B.).

Not really, I recognize a few bits and pieces for some reason but mostly its all unfamiliar to me. Sounds weird, but not the good kind of weird.

Yea, very slow and boring...especially "Je N'ai Besoin Que De Tendresse" is the slowest i ever heard and i am getting bored to death while listening to that and "Les Succettes"...

I'll still give it a listen, but with 'Sitra Ahra' being so superbly average, I don't know what to expect.
