I have to admit, I was rather sceptical when I first picked up Thy Majestie's latest album ShiHuangDi. Not that I am familiar with the band's previous material, but it's just that I saw them labelled as "symphonic power metal" and they come from Italy, which led me to think of the massive block of cheese called Rhapsody Of Fire. However, I gave this album a shot anyway in my quest for some quality power metal, which has become rather difficult in recent years.

Great album! If more Euro-power bands were like thy majestie and left room for good guitar riffs it wouldn't have such a bad reputation

I need to listen more, I suppose. I heard about 3/4 of it today and was so underwhelmed! I'll hold off on making an opinion, at least I'll try. All I can think now is that I'm sad I spent money on it.

If you didn't like it initially I don't think it's going to get any better, it wanes a bit for me now after a few more listens. Still, it's better than most power metal I've heard this year.

Listened to it the second time today. It's not memorable (for now), but it's certainly enjoyable.
