We're all still alive it seems. There was no apocalypse for us as 2012 came to a close but the year did treat us with a premeditated glimpse of how things may have turned out in its aftermath with this compelling piece of post metal by Atoma.

31.12.2012 Leaving the Earth behind and exploring uncharted worlds and all the star systems rarely sounds this decisively passionate. Like kissing the world goodbye with the explosive romanticism of a mushroom cloud, Skylight offers vocal lines and guitar solos that echo the beauty of a nebula, all while letting us travel with them in the warmth of their journey afar. Like a tear with a smile beneath it.

Well, after sending an email to Ehsan, he posted me the lyrics.
Here it is:

تبر به سر
می ریم به شب
خورشید را بیار پایین

He said it is written by his 7 year old cousin when he asked her to describe her feelings about the end of the world. It's exactly her words.

And for our non-Persian friends, i would translate the words:

"With axes on our heads,
we march through the night.
Bring down the Sun."

Wait were these written by a 7 years old?
Man maybe they should keep an eye on that kid...

I'd say these guys are considerably more relevant than almost every blacklisted band.

THIS!

If you can't "hear" the metal in this, put the brutal death metal down and expand your metal genre(s) tastes...

Liking this album, always a sucker for anything relevant to 'Space' or space inspired atmospheres etc.

Interested in listening to the mentioned 'Slumber' as well...

I'm not saying that should be removed. This is metal, not denying that. But some stuff on the blacklist is just as metal as this. So why add AtomA and not, say, "Fejd"? Both have metal roots and heavy non-metal influences.

Ahhh, sorry for sounding so rash their man. Agree with your reply. Sometimes myself I don't get the rules or guidelines on this site for what constitutes metal or non.

I swear; the band picture was the same one of The Chant some time ago. did the staff messed up???
oblong - 14.08.2012 at 07:21
After giving this a few more playthroughs, it's a good album + worth a look.

I wanted to give it a 6.5, but it still remains fairly interesting - so a generous 7

Your hand wasn't angry for this choice?

No, because the next question was: "what do you think about sex + Atoma?"...

Rating: 9 Persian post metal from Sweden, gotta fucking love it.

Very keen to hear Enshine's new album, since Enshine seems to be the other Slumber offspring, Atoma's twin brother if you will.

BTW is Atom A as in the particle? Or is it Atoma, one word?
IronAngel - 22.06.2013 at 00:04
Can't say I'm a huge fan of Slumber, and Enshine didn't impress me overmuch. But I finally got around to hearing this album, and it's pretty impressive. I would normally whine about the glossy production, but it serves the expansive, soaring aesthetic very well.
