Four facts:
1. Benton was and is a blithering idiot
2. lately, the Hoffman brothers are nothing but a guarantor of mediocrity
3. I tried to like Deicide and Legion but epically failed
4. this demo was the very first piece of death metal I fu#&ing loved right from the beginning

In the late 80's and early 90's, I was deep into tape-trading. But until then, I had totally ignored the harbingers of the upcoming death metal boom. Carnage, Nihilist, Mantas, Possessed, Master... ...all these bands just didn't touch me. I guess I was too young and too green to really understand what was going on.
But then, one day in 1990, I stumbled upon this demo and the combination of catchy riffs, aggressive but yet comprehensible vocals and untamed rawness just blew me away.

I still don't know exactly why I love(d) this so much, from an unemotional point of view this just can't be any better than reams of related death metal releases of that time. So once in a while, I keep comming back to this, just to prove me wrong.
But it doesn't help: this is superior to Amon's first demo and these six early recordings outclassed the polished re-recordings for Deicide's debut BY FAR.
