12.09.2012 Both progressive and extreme and original! Oh fuck, those are three things. Nevermind. Why haven't I picked this before? Because I'm an idiot, that's why.

Holy fucking shit.

Its definitely something with a fresh sound for me. The closest band I could compare them with is probably their fellow Norwegians Leprous, if only for their crazy unpredictability!

Leprous are awesome, but this album doesnt have their avantgarde technichality... this one is more diverse though, at moments they sound like opeth, at moments they sound like giant squid, one song sounds rock-and-roll and on the last song they sound completely WTF.. but most of the time they sound fresh, yes.

Yep, very different musically speaking. "Redneck Randy" is probably my least favourite track as its an odd way to end the album.. a very odd way

Same. I think it's about a redneck being abducted and probed by aliens or something, eh?

Rating: 8 Seeing these guys live in October (with Leprous and Loch Vostok and Persefone, no less) will make me feel like royalty.
That is, if I don't have to spend the night in Belgrade alone afterwards - that is, if there's anyone out there in my town who's interested in going.

Nah, I'll see them alright, it will just suck, having to leave early for the bus if no one else cares to go.

I agree with that, it's unique for sure but I can't see it being something that will be emulated by other bands. So not a trend-setter really, just an enjoyable peculiarity. Hopefully we get more of the same (that is something fresh and different!) from them on future albums.

Rating: 8 Fem Solar reminded me of an Ennio Morricone soundtrack... awesome

Rating: 9 If not for its originality and the quality of the first two tracks I would have given this a 6 or 5. Similar to Dissona's debut, their style needs work but has much potential. I'm excited to see what the years will bring

Edit: Scratch that - this is awesome!
Diverge - 25.09.2014 at 02:37
Rating: 9 This album is still amazing. The transition to a glam rock/party rock ending to Profeten remains a definitive highlight of 2012 for me, although Fem Soler and Redneck Randy are also standouts. I can't wait to hear more from these guys!
