I get the feeling these guys must have been rather upset by Arcturus' disbandment back in 2007 and then decided to take it upon themselves to fill that void left in the Avantgarde world. But not only did they fill the void, they improved upon what Arcturus had already done by doing what [probably] a lot of us Arcturus fans always hoped Arcturus would have done, they mixed all the best aspects of Aspera Hiems Symfonia and La Masquerade Infernale into one solid, super cohesive album.
In case you can't tell yet, this album is obviously heavily influenced by Arcturus but they still managed to add their own touches to it here and there as well so if you are a fan of Arcturus (especially of AHS and LMI) then you SHOULD get this album ASAP.
This album is obviously Aspera Hiems Symphonia/La Masquerade Infernale-era Arcturus worship but damn it all to hell if it's not still a fantastic album. Definitely recommend this for any fan of progressive music and Artcurus fans.
Very very nice tribute to Arcturus - the vocals were pleasantly similar to those of ICS Vortex lacking perhaps a little bit of his epic force, but otherwise, an all around solid work.
I dont think this album should be labeled avantgarde. it's good and all but come on, it's imitating the style of albums released over 15 years ago? how is that avantgarde?
Well you can't exactly take the term "avantgarde" literally in these cases otherwise we should go back and label the first bands of every single genre in the history of music as "avantgarde rock/pop/metal/electronica/industrial/etc".
