Fuckin' awesome. Strongest bit of heavy metal I've heard in a long time.

I agree! Its got a real classic style, best thing about it for me is the vocals and the songwriting is really memorable.

Aye, Damien King III suits my preferences much better than King II or Joachim did. Hopefully this time the guys can stay together, between Tsamis and Zondor, they've one hell of a creative engine. I also really enjoy the religious references in this album (most likely due to Tsamis' presence, seen as he put together a Christian band with his wife after Warlord disbanded), even though I don't normally like that sort of thing, testament (no pun intended) to the strength of the songwriting, I guess.

The band is new to me so thanks for that info, Damien sounds excellent but I'll have to have a listen to how the others compare. Religious references won't put me off a great listen like this one, same goes for anti-religious lyrics as well. I can see what you mean about those Christian references, quite tastefully done here.

I was a bit startled when it got to the intro of "Kill Zone", had that epic feel going on the whole time then brings in the helicopters!

Aye, the transition from ''City Walls Of Troy'' to ''Kill Zone'' is a strange one lol, from epic, archaic to a more modern sound in mere moments

For me, their 1983 EP ''Deliver Us'' is their strongest bit of work, Damien King I had this great vocal style to go along with the slightly lo-fi sound of that EP (but also wasn't afraid of a wail or two), and the songwriting was really strong, like here. Can't remember where I read this about their first full length (with King II at vocals), but it was said that he was out of tune at times, and I'd definitely agree with that...''Deliver Us'' has been my favourite song for a while now, since hearing the original EP version, but I couldn't get into the full length rendition of it at all. As for Joachim's input on their 2002 full length, I wasn't a fan, neither of him (though I know HammerFall are a popular enough band, so I'm sure some were pretty happy with it) or the general songwriting, it felt like a temporary thing, which it turned out to be.

Maybe it barely is HM, but the production makes this album sound like softest heavy metal ever.

Album has some good songs of which the most notable to me are '70,000 Sorrows' and 'Night Of The Fury'. 'Thy Kingdom Come', #7 and #8 songs seem to be fillers, though.

While the album is good it's quite repetitive as the same mid-tempo is constant. I also think the songs are a bit empty, very delivering something that sticks out.

On the re-issue second disc there's a demo of War in Heaven with Giles Lavery on vocals and that's the best version of the song i've heard.
