I should probably go ahead and actually listen to the whole album, instead of the two tracks on Youtube.

Yeah this is good, but doesn't make sense for it to be 9 when the likes of Ulcerate, Duobetic Homunkulous etc. also have 9s. Not that good.

Do you think they sound similar or are they just a point of reference for quality?

General quality. Ulcerate and Duobetic are far better in their respective fields of death metal than Lantern are at theirs. I was referring to my own personal score at the time btw, not the MS score

Can't remember exactly how this was back from 2013 when I checked this out but I have a feeling this was good.

Yeah it's a good record. Blackened death though? Don't remember this being black at all.

Nothing really black about this one. Just like with Cruciamentum and Grave Miasma who somehow also get labeled as black death by tone deaf people.

Been quite a few odd genres popping up on here lately. I'm wondering if someone is going round messing with them on purpose

Johan (JN) added the blackened prefix quite some time ago.

Fair enough. Annoying not being able to look at who added stuff anymore

This is a fantastic album, its absolutely one of the best osdm albums this decade, so I probably should upvote it a bit - inch perfect production for this stuff, interesting vocals, nice balance between soft and harsh, good underground feeling, cousy darkness and probably lots of other stuff that I like but cant point out.
