21:56 - moonflash Castlevania should not be forgotten in this conversation. The guy playing in this video can't possibly be human. [link]
21:54 - !J.O.O.E.! I haven't played Dragon's Crown yet, but everything of his I've heard is great. He has a very distinctive sound.
21:51 - moonflash Not familiar with much of Hitoshi san's work apart from Vagrant story (which was stellar) but the games he's worked on looks like a list of stuff I've been meaning to check out for ages! (like Tactics ogre and Dragon's Crown)
21:50 - !J.O.O.E.! Speaking of soundtracks, Alien Isolation's is exceptional. I had to turn down the actual music as it was making me too tense but that combined with the amazingly rendered ambient effects and sounds is something else.
Within the realm of experimentation in the metal genre, Sunn O))) and Ulver need little introduction. Both have consistently pushed boundaries over the past decade, the latter barely even being metal anymore at this point. So really, it was only a matter of time before some sort of joint effort between them spawned in 2014's Terrestrials, which can only be described as a complete and natural synthesis of the parties involved.
Eternal Return is probably one of the most eerie and stunning songs I've heard in a while. At first it sounds like the two bands are doing their best and their darkest Earth impression...which causes an unwilling swell of desolation to befall you. Once the vocals hit, it goes to a brand new level.
I mentioned in my review that it'd be cool if more work was done between the Sunn O))) guys and the Ulver guys, but in a way that's already a reality. Stephen O'Malley actually has his Æthenor project with Garm and Daniel O'Sullivan, anyone who enjoyed this collab should definitely look into it.
