Well this is definitely an album for the one man fanatics like myself if I ever heard one. Admittedly not as good as the previous Sentinel, but the drop in quality is very minimal, and Nihilus Ayloss continues to deliver in spades. Raw and hard hitting, but also interspersed with plenty of dreamy and mesmerizing undercurrents, to create a feeling not too unlike floating in some sort of otherwordly, cosmic ocean. "The Veiled Garden" in particular is nothing short of mindblowing.

LISTEN.

I'm pretty split between this, Lux Occulta, and the Sunn O))) collab at the moment myself. By the way, methinks this would be a good album for your One Man Metal list, assuming you don't already have any Spectral Lore in there

Dude, I had Sentinel on my list pretty much from the beginning and when I heard this one I immediately replaced Sentinel with III.

Really tough for me to say which I prefer at the moment, but I'm currently leaning more towards Sentinel. Might change after a few more listens though.

About Sentinel: if it wasn't for those last 20 (or more) minutes of nothing really happening, then I'd definitely prefer it to III, but right now I still prefer this one to Sentinel.

You mean the ambient piece? I thought that was pretty good.

I couldn't get into the 2 ambient pieces from sentinel, but even though this is longer, i found this record to be a breeze dispite the length. Maybe shaving 10-15 mins off would have been perfect, but every song has its own special atmosphere. "spiral fountain" imo is their most epic song with a grandeur feel. The spacey start of "cosmic significance" was brilliant. Never felt this drawn in to a BM record like this for a while.

Yeah, but it's way too long for my tastes. I like ambient parts like that, but not when they're 20-30 minutes long. Everything before that ambient part is really great though.

Yep, totally what I think as well. Almost 90 minutes is a bit too long indeed, though this album still keeps me interested all the way through. I actually love the last 2 songs. The last song has such a great dreamy, spacey atmosphere going on. If it wasn't for those last two songs on Sentinel I would've preferred that one, but now I definitely prefer this one.

Great album. Long but not unnecessarily so. I don't think there's a lot of filler here. Gonna have to give it a couple more spins though, first impression was really good.

It's impressive how I still enjoy the hell out of this album quite a few (10-15 or so) spins. Loads of variety in this album's sound and basically everything sounds fantastic, from straight BM riffs to spacey ambient passages. It all flows together perfectly.

Probably my #1 album of this year, or at least top 3.

At the first few listens I agreed with you, but now the length does annoy me a bit (not much at all, it just doesn't make me want to listen to it a lot). I still stand by what I said though; there's no filler, but it's still long. In any case it's one of this year's finest albums.

The last track is good, the rest is just pointless meandering.

I don't think much of the 1st half of the album, 2nd is really good, though.

Wow! Truly beautiful album. It is creative and inspiring. Almost none of the melodies are repeated, the tracks flow changing during the whole time but with a smooth and natural sense.

Really enjoyed the "softer" tracks in this release, as:
Drifting Through Moss And Ancient Stone
The Spiral Fountain
Cosmic Significance
