Like WASP's debut (which I just happen to be listening to now), the last track on the disc comes close to greatness, and so much of the rest... just... doesn't. Karma K's my other fav here. Overall, not all that IM-ish, yet it tends to suffer the same problem as much of Maiden's stuff from the last 20 years: excessive lengths and repetitions. This is one for the fans, yet at the same time - not really. Part of me wishes the vocals were really different...

Not that great of a record, lots of bland moments and thats what ruined it for me. Its nos a bad album by any means but its not good either, it just reeks of average-ness.

Imo, when an album is so average that it suffers from it, it is a bad album because it brings nothing interesting. With the large amount of material available each year on the Metal scene these days, I consider we have no time to loose with stuff that is only average.

Of course, "average" can be relative and depends on our tastes. When I buy albums, it is because I believe they are more than average. I buy them because I think they are very good. But what is very good for me can be average for you or vice-versa.

While I partly agree with your argument, in the end of the day it comes down to the standarts of the person's Ratting system. To me a bad album consists, most of the time, on poorly executed or just uninspiring music that may have some good parts in but its not enough to balance the scales in its favor. I dont care much for specific techniques or production wise because I'm not acknowleged in that area but sometimes a decent album gets ranked down to a bad one because of this so I guess that counts too on some level. An Average album, on the other hand, Is something that I listen to it once, have a few enjoyable moments but Dont remember much afterwards or it doesnt lure me to listen to it again, no matter how many times I insist.

Dont get me wrong, I will probably never buy this Album (at least while I maintain my opinion about it, which I dont think it will change in the near future) since I would get something better for its price, but everyone buys music for different reasons apart. Some buy what the really like, others buy everything from their favorite artists and others buy just to support the bands. Personally, I've bought some music that I never played before just because I saw them live, liked their act and they didnt had any T-Shirts.
