Good news! I can't wait to hear more of Per's guitar chops; he is astounding!

God yes he is! I've been re-listening to the first two albums, his song writing and solos are just awesome.

Fantastic album! I've been a fan of this band since late 2008 and every release have a special place in my heart!

This is beside Holographic Universe and The Unseen Empire as my favourite albums from them, maybe even topping them both off

On my third spin and I think this is my new favourite, both from this year and SS as a whole.

It's clear to me that Per and the band are the most inspired they've ever been together. Unlike Unseen, guitar solos have direction and confidence and a heavier weight, with less noodling. A lot of people might prefer Unseen however.

Will have to comment more later.

We all love HU and after three listens in a row i strongly believe that it is one of the best things i've heard this year . It is a challenging record that has a lot to offer and does not bore you at all as the previous 2 ( oupsss !!!.........ok unseen was a bit better ) .

Certainly a step-up in terms of song structure, with respect to their last album. However, the melodies don't stand out as much. Quite a bit of cheese and the tone of the clean vocals don't help in that respect. Hopefully the inspired melodies and solos from the "Älvestam-era" will return in the upcoming two albums

Definitely a step in the right direction. This is easily the best album from phase two of their career. It seems like they've tried to stop emulating what an amazing talent Alvestam was and have started working around the abilities (and limitations) of their current talent. Great guitar work and the most solid release since Holographic Universe. Nice to hear Per Nilsson playing with new life and direction. Such and awesome guitarist. It would be great to say "Man, if they can just get Christian and Jonas back then..." but, honestly, I don't know if either would fit anymore. Good rebirth for SS. Enjoyable once again.

Interesting concept and the music has its moments, but I miss a good, strong chorus.

Hopefully, this is just the warm up and we will see great things in the remaining two phases

Currently listening to this and I have to say I absolutely hate the clean parts . Not that I have anything against Clean vocals on Death Metal or something, but it just goes bland and utterly common most of the times. Its almost annoying how often they shift from one to another.

There are some high points here, like the whole structure of Neohuman. Theres a lot of boring parts but Midway through the song gets quite enjoyable. Cryonic Harvest also has some really cool guitar parts, too bad the melodic vocals ruin it. and, speaking of guitars, intro of The Spiral Timeshift is awesome...but again, fails a few seconds after.

Production-wise its ok. Drums has a few flaws but, again, nothing major, everything is audible enough.

Not my cup of tea by any means.

Yeah. This type of music isnt my cup of tea and, besides that, I dont find it particularly cohesive at all

In my opinion this is their greatest album since Holographic Universe (and maybe surpasses it). Everything flows together nicely and fits into place. The vocals are vastly improved and show that these guys aren't slowing down anytime soon. Can't wait to hear what they have in store for the next installment (part 2).
EDIT: No way this surpasses Holographic Universe. No idea why I even thought that to begin with. But still stoked for the next album.

Neohuman is probably the best track on this album. So beautiful and melodic.

The album starts off cheesy and messy, but it steadily improves until the end.

If they combined the memorable groove and melody from Unseen with the improved songwriting shown here, we'd have a killer album.

Not me, I could never get into Wintersun. I've never understood what the fuss was all about.

I liked Time I, but not the others too much.
