Wovoka, a Los Angeles, California based band, have released their debut LP Saros. After many spins, this album has grown on me because of the fact that their sound is an exercise in perfecting the art of sharply contrasting tempos while balancing between misanthropic based themes and environs. While the approach is far from original or elaborate, it's executed with tightness, intensity and purposefulness.

It's fairly well done but pretty much gets points from me just because I lap up anything that does the post-metal sound competently at the moment. In this case, it's pretty damn generic without offering anything much at all distinctive. It's pretty competent at that sound at least, but I'm not even sure if it's THAT great at doing it - there's a few times when it felt slightly off. Still, the riffs are generally interesting, the lead guitar bits work well and the vocals are solid enough.

yeah, its generic in terms of sound, riffs, drums etc. But the hate that spills over is unseen. And this makes this album brilliant.

And another "Please donate your artwork to the more deserving" album. Not terrible, just painfully generic and almost not a single interesting song writing moment to be had (going by the first 30 mins or so).

Still though, that art.

Well done CoL ripoff. Man I'd like some new Luna stuff.
Hope these guys find their style in time.
