Bad English
Tage Westerlund
Good album, I didn't like those so called raw parts in her singing, but that calm vocals, acoustic, neo folk , piano parts was good, also music, she could sing little calmer
but in some way maybe most unique BM band what came out in '10s ,best BM band from Denmark , maybe even best Danish band ever

What a beautiful album. Both haunting and blissfully serene. Perhaps my favorite BM album of the year so far.

Brilliant setup.

Good chunk of bm with perfectly fitted of amosph and rawness. Also, i don't find any issue with raw parts either.it was placed right into where song left it.

I mean if you listen to songs in flow, you won't find anything "extraordinary" bloopers in.

Great album.

Where's your sense of adventure?
I'm digging what I'm hearing. Not going WOW AWESOME over it. But I dig the clean folk-like cleans and ambient moments, the cello (and other shit I dont remember now). It seems to be that it's one of those albums where I wouldn't recommend listening to a couple of songs. Since it does varies a bit in style and moods.

Also, just a question: What do you consider female-fronted? Just when they sing?

Well, when nobody recommends good stuff, I usually just go by my own. Just usually

Yeah, just when they sing. They are not good in that, obviously there are some exceptions, but there isn't a lot of it.

The only name I can recognize is Fear Of God... Well, I didn't listen to the band, yet, but I did listen to Détente (I know it's the same vocalist) and it was good. That's it.

Undersmile and SubRosa are both sludge/doom. Fear Of God is thrash with a very unique sound, quite some alternative/goth vibe sometimes but maybe that's me... Highly recommended.
Bloody Panda play also a sort of sludge/doom with some funeral influences and really creepy vocals. Menace Ruine is a lovely mix of drone/doom/ambient/neo-folk.

I will check that first because the band name is ridiculously funny for some reason. Eventually I will listen to all the bands you recommended, even if it takes me a couple of years ( ). Thanks.

Awesome. Make sure to listen to their second album first. It's really the better album. they were still getting their sound together with the debut.

As expected, a solid improvement after the debut EP. Better production, slightly better songwriting. Still nothing so special about it though.

You don't have to be skilled like Marty Friedman to write a good album. This true piece of art is beautiful from the first to the last track. Raw, melodic, sometimes aggressive, atmospheric, dark and just simply amazing music. I didn't hear anything like this since I've met the first Alcest album.

The best parts of this album are when Myrkur sings and those classical/orchestral sounds like in "Byssan Lul"-and that's just above average material really. The rest of the album doesn't seem to go anywhere though-it's like she has a lot of ideas, but they seem more scattered than they are concise. Whatever, I'm sure I'm going to be getting a lot of hate comments from people who think they live and die by the proverbial black metal comments, so my opinion doesn't really matter in that case.

The start of Hævnen REALLY sounds like a MurkRat song. Can't think which one, though.

Gave it another try, since they opening for Deafheaven here in a few months, and can't say my opinion changed.
Only really enjoyable part is Onde Børn, coz it's more or less a copy of Ulver's "Capitel I: I Troldskog faren vild" (which is a favorite of mine).
Rest ranges from uninspired to boring as fuck. Oh and those ethereal chants like on the first track? Irritating is an understatement.
Weirdly, I enjoy more here other project Ex Cops.

I'm not very into black metal, specially this one, with female vocals. I need to say, that her screams aren't good enough. I mean - they're acceptable and fit to songs, but that's all. Her clean vocals and this neofolk and ambient additions made up this album.

I saw her open for Behemoth, and it's amazing how much better the songs sound live than in the album. The production is so needlessly muddy, I get it's black metal but it would benefit so much more with more standout instruments. The black metal parts sounded amazing live when combined with her cleans (screams are typical live screams) but when I bought the album (couldn't resist getting an autograph and supporting the music) it was just a solid "meh". It's still good enough for me, her cleans are great and the folk-ey stuff works very well.

A lot of people on the Youtube stream's comments have complained that it feels a bit too "manufactured" in the sense that Relapse Records took a Danish pop star and tried to make her metal, but with the live performance it was obvious that she was really, really into it. She genuinely likes metal and wanted to make metal.

Debut albums can be confused like this, what will really matter is the direction she takes for future albums.
