As a Disturbed fan, I naturally received the announcement of their hiatus several years ago with disappointment, but the band had made apparent with Asylum, and even as early as Indestructible, that their career could not continue on the backs of increasingly threadbare concepts. I had hoped that Immortalized would mark the beginning of a new era for Disturbed, welcoming back into the fold a refreshed, newly-inspired band, but it seems that the much-needed break did not bear fruit.

I for one am looking forward to this. The new single was sick, especially that bridge. Weird little groovy solo than bam, blast beats, and little bit later there was freaking death metal styled riff! I want to see what else they put into their sound while still sounding like Disturbed.

A cover of the same Simon & Garfunkel song that Nevermore covered on Dead Heart in a Dead World. Will be interesting to hear their interpretation.

I think all of their covers have been great so far (well, except for the fact they only covered half of "Fade to Black"), so I'm looking forward to it. Going to listen to the Nevermore version now. Funny you mentioned them because on Facebook I saw someone compare the riffing in the new song to Nevermore. Not sure why though, reminds me more of some 80's heavy metal or hard rock band.

EDIT: Okay, listened to the Nevermore version. I like it, but it doesn't really sound anything like the original song, which I have to say I prefer. So dark and beautiful. The Disturbed cover is probably going to be more faithful to the original.

Average No stand-out tracks at all IMO unless you want to count the cover song which was pretty good.

This band isn't metal. its like saying papa roach Justin Bieber and five finger death punch and korn is metal. its hard rock. not metal at all. whoever put this on here doesn't know what metal is. theres a difference between rock and metal.

I gave this album a few spins and I have to say it's better than Asylum (2011). This album has a lot more memorable songs and great riffs. Yes, it's typically Disturbed, so people that don't like them in the first place won't be won over with this album. But for fans of the band this album is a must have.

Metal Storm also includes other styles. Rush aren't Metal but they are here. Does it really matter?

And not only do you have no idea what hard rock is (which is especially ironic considering the plurality of your collection and the majority of your favorite bands are actually hard rock), you clearly have no idea how this website works. Someone didn't just put Disturbed up yesterday, only administrators can create the actual band pages, users can only suggest them. Also what Toxik said, it doesn't even matter if they were in fact hard rock. This is not the place to discuss the band's label, it's already been decided they belong here.

PS: FFDP is also metal: http://www.metalstorm.net/bands/band.php?band_id=4342&bandname=Five+Finger+Death+Punch
Notice the label saying "groove metal". Some nu metal like Korn also gets the pass here.

Anyway, on the actual album, I've only listened to the singles and iTune previews so far, and it sounds okay. Some interesting sounding stuff and a lot of same sounding stuff as well. I am going to remark that "The Light" is really way more out of Disturb's terrority than the cover is, I hope it's got some distorted guitars rather than just being acoustic otherwise it's too close to the original. I find it funny that most metalheads are saying this sounds like every other Disturbed album, but I see most Disturbed fans complaining about how this sounds nothing like Disturbed.

Very very typical Disturbed, even though the added groove makes it sound heavier. It basically is Indestructible part 2. It's expected from them to make generic and inoffensive music, and it's what they delivered. It's too standard and generic to give above a 7, but it's so inoffensive you can't give a score below that.

The cover surprised me though. Very very different from Nevermore's cover for sure, and I haven't heard any Disturbed song like it.

I'm looking back at Disturbed as my second heavier band I ever discovered and listened to, so older material has a higher value for me, then otherwise probably. However, this one seems so weak and generic, but especially the production is horrible imo. I think this is nowhere near older material for me...

Disturbed was one of those "gateway" bands that no doubt started me down the path of listening to metal. I find I still enjoy the old material, but I can't help but think it's pure nostalgia tricking my brain because this was utter garbage.

It's the same with me and earlier stuff from bands like Adema and Static-X. It's probably all crap, but b/c of nostalgia I still enjoy some of the tracks.

Early stuff from Static-X is far from being all crap/garbage it's amazing (maybe that's just me though)... Same for Disturbed, I still love The Sickness and Believe, even Ten Thousand Fists.

For fun I decided to revisit Adema's self-titled album today, haha. It's been so long. Okay... Pain Inside, Giving In, and especially Trust are still decent songs to me. If the entire album had been dark and melodic like those songs, it might have been a great album.

But the rest is garbage, unfortunately.

No shame in keeping those albums in collection, fella.

Adema's self-title is splendid record and same goes with early Static-X. What's shame in hiding when those records are nicely produced?!

I still have those on iTunes and play time to time. It's fun, energetic and enjoyable.

Why all the negativity? I like this album. Their hiatus seemed to have worked to their favour as the album feels waaay better than Asylum.

Some decent and even great moments here, but it's largely washed away by insipid songwriting. The only tracks worth listening to are 3, 4, 6, 7, 11-14. The vocals on that cover are amazing.

Like I said in the shoutbox... Disturbed tried and play it way too much like the original. Nevermore's verson which they made their own is way way way superior.

I generally agree with this list, but I'd also add the 5 (so 3-7) as it's something different and it's good if you can tolerate pop rock, and that's enough songs to justify getting the album.
